New stereo

Hey all, just put a new alpine stereo in, and it plays the radio but when I turn it to cd, no sound comes out. What am I doing wrong?

Ryan from Ohio will become famous soon enough
Sounds like to me you have the RCAs not hooked up or they are turned off somehow...

When you say "stereo" it sounds like you mean head unit only, not subs OR amplified mids and highs. If that is so, it may be a faulty head unit. The mechanism that reads the cd may be effed up or something if the antenna works just fine. Did you buy new or used?

I agree that we need more details.

Exactly what types of CD's did you try?

I remember doing this once, did you hook up the remote amp wire to the power antenna wire?? if so, move it to the remote amp turn on wire. It solved all my problems from there on in.

If you are getting signal to your speakers while playing the radio then it ***HAS*** to be something dealing with either the format of the cd's you are trying to play, or the reading mechanism itself.

I see you have the GL which I may be wrong but, you should have the factory monsoon system. If you mix a wire up on the harness and have the amplifier turn-on wire mixed up, you would get NO sound. From you stating that the ONLY issue with the head unit is that of the cd palyer malfunctioning, that has to be the problem.

And now I just realized you have some sort of subwoofer setup going on too. Again, if your amplifier and subs are functioning with the radio and not the cd player, then it has to be dealing with your cd setup. (whether it be the format of the cd's, or something internally...) Do you have a warranty on the head unit? If so, this problem should be covered.)
