break problems

I need to replace my front rotors and I noticed that my caliper slider pins are not sliding ( a bit rusty and I think the slider pin boot is riped)....do I need to replace the slider pins and caliper mounting bracket or can I simply lube them up with grease?

I checked at the dealer and the brackets are $106 CDN each....didn't check for the pins. and I read that the boots are around $15 each

I guess it all depends on how easy it is for you to get the pin out. Check out the condition of the pin and bracket. It's possible to clean the pin up (wire brush) and remove all the rust, make sure it slides in and out of the bracket easy, but not sloppy. Apply a liberal amount of grease to it and a new boot and it should be ok. Even if you wanted to just use a new pin, they should be available at most parts stores.

Thanks for the info guys....I called around and I can get the pins for around $12 per set...and the brackets for around $15 each used ($106 new at dealer). also I think the boots come with the brackets, so if they're in good conditions I won't have to buy them.

Any recomendation for rotors....in CANADA. I've called around and they range from $25-$110 and $210 at the dealer.

For whatever it's worth if you're in Saskatoon I can get you 20% off at the dealership or some sort of discount at partsource. My dad owns a courier company and they do alot of business with them so I get a discount based on how much margin they have.

I bought new rotors/calipers for mine. Calipers were $151 and got em knocked down to $94, Rotors were $147 and got em knocked down to $90, Pads were $120 and got em knocked down to $63. All wagner.

Not sure if those are the best prices, I just went by the dollar discount and the fact I needed them that day.
