Interior lights

ok so, my map lights and dome light are usually off when i drive. obv. but now even when i drive and have the dome light set to door, it stays on, aswell as the map light under the rear view mirror. yeah they stay on, even when set to off. whats wrong??? the fuses were changed but still happened. is it a relay?

its controled by the door latch, replace the door latch problem fixed
ya know you open the door the little light goes on

or sometimes the contact points that hold the bulb get loose, check that too, or check the dome light if its not the door latch
any service vehicle lights on

find a wiring diagram for it, grab your multimeter, and start checking.

Probs start with the door latches... I forget.. do our cars have a chime for every door if the key's in and door opened, or just driver's side? Same with keeping the radio on. If the radio turns off right away when the car gets shut off.. it's the driver's door. If not, IIRC, that eliminates the driver's side door at least.

halogens have a high amount of current needed to "turn on" leds do not.

the residual in the circuit produces pin point light in leds... its just bad circuit design on GMs part.

the damn dimmer switch was set to on.. haha
now on this same topic. my dash, hvac, and shift console lights do not work.. fuse is fine. i realized that putting in led bulbs of a diff wattage blew something. can i repair this?

um...

leds of a different wattage? leds use LESS power, not more. more = blown fuse. less = nothing

what lights did you change? double check fuse in the top right of the passanger fuse box, as well as the ones under the hood.

ok this is gonna sound dumb, but since you somehow left your dimmer switch on all the way for the lights to be on, did you by chance have another brain fart and turn the dimmer switch all the way down now?

ive had a bad year hahaha.. but no they havent worked for awhile, and ive been trying different things. the switch isnt the issue for this one. and if the fuse in the pass side box was blown then the dome light and map light wouldnt work, now would they haha..
as for the hood, what fuse(s) do i check? i always went by the assumption that the pass side was the only interior light fuse.

they were the 194 led bulbs.
i had them on as bright as they could go, then one started blinking constantly, then they all just went out, and even the stock ones wont work, which is why i figured i fried somethin, cuz i honestly never knew that there was a fuse in the hood for the interior lights, but im looking it up as we speak then im gonna go check

then you have a short.

now just need to know where...
1) check voltage at the bulbs
2) check voltage at the dimmer
3) check voltage on the passanger side fuse

see where it is that your losing it.

and flickering means 2 things. the LED is burning out.... or you have a bad connection. bad connections usually mean a bad ground somewhere.

i don't mean check the device... i mean check the connections for voltage. if there isn't any, the short is before that spot, if they do, then its somewhere after.
