I just got a set of Halo Gauges for X-Mas. Love my wife. So anyway I get them all lined up which was a pain in mein arse. Hook them up using the Illumination wire out of my stereo harness and grounding to the stereo ground. I turn them on low and there is no sound but as I turn them up (brightness) I hear a high pitched buzzing sound. I was thinking maybe it was shorting out or I may need a fuse somewhere in there. Not sure what to do about it. I can't hear it with my stereo on, just enough to make me wonder if I should hook them up somewhere else.

Isn't your illumination wire a variable voltage? That could be it, some electronics will make a noise if they operate at a different voltage than they're designed for.

my gauges don't buzz.... just out of curiocity, where did you wire yours to and where did you ground it? Maybe if we get a consensus of where the wiring is, we can find a better way to wire them so they don't hum.

Mine are wired to the cubby light (i cut off the cubby light because I didn't like it, and I used the hole to put my Sirius radio controller wire through) and grounded to the big bolt behind the gauge cluster.

I hooked mine up to the cubby hole light as well, but I didn't cut the wire so my cubby light still works. I can't remeber where I grounded it too. I guess I could check one of these days but I'm lazy so I probably willn't.

So I am thinking maybe I should get back in there and pull it out so I can hook it up to the cubby light? That stereo is a pain. Oh well, I had a shift knob that had neon on it as well it was pretty sweet..made that buzzing noise I really didn't think anything of it. Then it stopped working I think I shorted something out. I will probably get back in there and make a few wiring changes.

wired to the gauge cluster power, can use both the stock dimmer and switch dimmer, and grounded it to a bolt behind the cluster, switch in that flip down pocket to the left

and yeah, it still buzzes very little, but still only realize it if i have no radio on and they're cranked up to bright
