Thumbs up

I purchased the AAS bodykit for my car (no time to put it on just yet). I want to eliminate the little rectangular holes on the front of the kit. I have some fiberglassing experience and some bodywork (Bondo, etc.) experience. I know that some of you have also glassed over the holes on the front of the AAS kit (FamtomForce, etc.). What I need to know is, how exactly is the best way to go about filling these holes? I could probably figure it out on my own, but I always like to know the RIGHT way to do stuff.

I'm not the hottest at body work, but what I've done is grind down the lip on the back side of it, removed the paint/primer from around the front side, and feather the existing 'glass down just a little on the front side to give it something to adhere to. After that, I laid in the glass from both sides so that it overlaps on both sides and adheres in the center. This will keep it from cracking out and giving you that nice outline under your new paint that I see on so many hack jobs. After that, just smooth it out and prep it for paint. This technique worked for me on all four holes in both the bumper portion, and the lower lip of the airdam.

Cool! Thanks! I hadn't even thought of grinding down the lip on the backside! That would make it so much easier! Thanks for the advice!

i had a body shop do mine but I did watch how they did it. He laid a thin piece of scrap wood over the holes and put some fiberglass on each side to hold it in place then put a layer of glass over the whole thing and sanded it smooth.

put several layers on the back and one or 2 on the front then bondo the front. those squares in the middle of the bumper you may have/want to grind down a bit

not sure if you started yet, but i'm actually doin this right now.
tools needed: cut off wheel, fiberglass mat, not cloth, resin, body filler, 60 grit sand paper, heated area, patience.
what i'm doing is cutting the vent off off totally. then feather the edge down on both sides. and be sure to sand about three inches beyond the outside of the hole. now, start with two layers of glass on the back side. make sure it doesn't balloon out through the other side, keep it as tight as possible. then sand it down a little for the next layer. then cut two pieces 1/8" bigger than the holes, but the same shape. lay these down in the holes, smoothing out, but filling the holes completely. then sand this down for the next layer. cut this piece a 1/2" larger around than the hole. this will be your final layer. now, sand it as smooth as you can, and apply the body filler. now make it smooth as a baby butt.
and remember:
start from the back,
lay 1 or 2 layers at a time,
wait 2 hours minimum between layers,
and sand between steps.
