lol, you my friend have the monsoon system. You can go 1 of 2 routes at this point. You can either buy an adapter to take it from 4 to 2 or you could just run speaker wire back from the headunit. That is the route I took when I replaced mine.

You can't just use two wires. The monsoon is two seperate amps running mids to highs and lows to the same speaker. This is called bi-amping. If you use one set of wires then you will only get the low frequencies or the mid and high frequencies. Above all, do not splice them all togeather. This would literaly be running two amps onto one speaker. Do as stated earlier and run the speaker wire from the HU directly to the new speakers. You won't get the benefit of the extra wattage but you will get all frequencies.

Could we possibly get a sticky on this subject? It seems that once a month this same question comes up?

that is the easiest. Just find the wires for the rear speakers in the wiring harness up there at the head unit and take some regular speaker wire, hook it up to the harness and run it back to the speakers. Its a piece of cake.

Ok so i take the rear speaker wires from the head unit...splice speaker wires to those and run them back to the speakers and splice them there. When you say speaker wire is there like a specific kind i need to be using and where would i run it through the car?

really doesn't matter too much to be honest. YOu dont need anything super thick. Now are you trying to run these from the factory HU or an aftermarket?

Mike i went and checked the bass, treble and middle and the rear speakers put out all of them, with just 2 wires it doens't seem like i'm missin anything. my only problem is that when i put the radio on standby or turn it off completely then turn it back on i have to bang on the back seat to get the rear speakers to work. if i just turn down the volume all the way and turn it back up they still work.

How do you have your car wired now. I take it that you have a aftermarket HU. Did you do as suggested and run the rear speakers from the aftermarket HU to the rear speakers? Did you simply wire two of the old speaker harness wires to the new speakers? Banging on the seat sounds like a loose connection but should have nothing to do with turning the HU on or off. If you did not wire the speakers directly from the aftermarket HU then it may be a issue of your monsoon amp turn on signal. Do you loose sound at both speakers or one? Front and back or just back?
