I had my windows tinted almost a year now. Almost the same week I had them tinted I noticed lines going up and down my tint(Scratches, im guessing from the rollers inside my door). Now, I have a few questions.

1: Should I snap my door open and clean the rollers? How effective will this be? I mean dirt goes inside there all the time correct?

2: If I do snap my doors off, how much of a pain in the ass is this job going to be. Also, I am gonna need to buy new door clips?

3: Is there anyway to "fill" the lines? They arnt really that noticible unless your a 2-3 feet next to the window and LOOKING for them. But I notice them.

Any ideas?

If the scratches are on your driver's side window - it's probably a flaw in the window mechanism that is covered under a GM TSB (tech service bulletin)

I've had mine for 2 years and the only scratches I notice are on the outside of the glass. And those are very lite hardly noticable unless your looking for them.

it's not the rollers, there are no rollers. there was a thread on this back before the crash. If i remember right some people had problems with the seal and some had a problem with wiring.

I had the seal problem, the inside weather seal has two rows of seals that press against the glass. part of the second row somehow got turned down and was scratching against the tint as my window went up and down. so I cut off that row of the seal. Shortly after that I had my car retinted and I have not had any scratches show up on my tint since. I had that done two years ago.

The other is some of the wiring that is in the door is being pushed out into the door area and as the window rolls up and down the wiring scratches the tint.

What i would do is look at these two first and see if this will fix it, these are cheap thats why I say that. All you have to do is pull the door panel off and you should be able to see what could be causing the problem. Hope this helps you all.

gm put the exterior window seals to tight to the glass and when dirt works it's way in between the glass and the seal it scratches the glass. so I clean that seal a couple times a year and I have not had any more show up since doing that.

if it is the same as the bulleton for the grand ams, it doesn't cover tinted windows. My friend went to the dealership and they told him it was only for cars that did not have tinted windows.....
BTW i have the scratchs on my car too

My tint is all messed up as well, pretty bad actualy and the dealer told me the same thing, tint is not under warrantly therefore they can adjust/fix it but I have to pay for it. What a rip of by GM do they fix anything on warranty anymore. I also went to the tint place because they gave me a lifetime warranty for the tint, but ofcourse they are blaming it on GM. What a vicious cycle. Can a consumer win now a days. I will have to do the trick that you guys are describing and fix these seals myself and get it retinted.

I've had this problem with my window...pretty common. Mine is on the outside though...dirt caught between the seal and the window unfortunately. All you can do is clean it out regularly like everyone else suggested. So far as inside tint scraching I'm not sure.

Wow, I guess I'm lucky because I don't have that problem thats pretty common I guess. Although, my small rear side window was scratched in the tinting process a year and a half ago. The tint dealer vought me a new window ($200) and replaced and retinted so that was good.

I don't have my windows tinted, but on my passenger side window theres a few scratches. I can't tell if its on the inside or outside, because I can't feel them either way.
