Hello all.. Im looking for components for a new system to replace the old... Ive been looking at alpines line up... A new feature from them has cought my eye... select Headunits feature an amplifire link that lets you have a direct connect between the amp and the headunit... i was wondering if this was a good feauture or not... I am also looking at a 10 inch Alpine Type-X SWX-1042D

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-plE5wsYZT8Y/c...20&I=500SWX1042

And powered by this amp...

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-plE5wsYZT8Y/c...20&I=500MRDM105

And alpine aslo has a 4 channel that has this feature as well

http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/prod...?model=MRV-F545

And i was also thinking about some infinity component speakers to handle that power... they were the first to come to mind.... but id like to know other options... I wanna stick with compnents all the way around... They will not be for this car.... I need 6.5's and 5x7's so please any help would be appreciated

IN MY EXPERIENCE, we have had an Alpine HU in my GF's Eclipse for about 3-4 years, and it still isn't outdated as far as sound quality goes...it was top of the line so it's 45x4 has seperate amp controls and everything...it has been a great product, and I would buy Alpine again.

Edit: If that isn't what you were looking for, sorry. I couldn't really tell what exactly you were asking...

YO, your kidding right? Alpine is one of the best out there when it comes to head units and amp clarity. Just picked up a head unit for myself today.

Alpine makes the best head units period when it comes to sound quality. when you want a clean sound troughout your system, it starts with a clean signal from your head unit. and if you ask around, you'll know that Alpine's HUs simply outdo the competition.

going to be kind of hard seeing that the door speakers are a 4x6" and if you get component plate speakers they sound like s h i t and the rears are 6x9's and the dont make component 6x9's............you are better off getting 2 good sets of coaxial's....I recommend Alpine Type S's best bang for the buck

I have no complaints about my Alpine equipment. I've got 1 of there decks (CDA-9827)with a mono amp (MRD-301). Just bought a set of SPS-130A 5.25's for the door. My sub will be Alpine soon as well I'm trying to do it all the same. The deck is older but still has more features than I'll ever need.

1WhiteOSV: not terribly difficult, just takes some scheming:

Check out Richie's (AftermathAlero) door panels also - he's running a set of 6.5" Diamond as well as 5.25" Diamond components in his doors. I had Infinity coaxs all the way around and it made a night and day difference moving to a good set of components.

Cheers,
~vR

^^^ That pic has to be photoshopped......you couldnt close the door, and if you could...that damn thing would be rammed into your leg! If it's not photoshopped...that is a hideously disgusting setup that took WAY more work than it was worth

also....it's not worth putting 6 1/2's in....just get a good set of coax's all the way around and a nice sub(s) and you will have a very clean and nice sounding system

I got an Alpine CDA-9855 when it first came out and it is amazing. Alpine has always had great headunits. JL Audio has some good subs depending on price range. I Have a 12 W3 which is crazy loud and still very clear, but if you have the money, you can work up to a W7 which is insane.

I like my alpines, i have 4x6 Type S in the front and 6x9 type R in the back. It isnt top, but is great for the money and affordable. I blew my type S's tho so i am looking at Infinity to replace them with.. might as well mix it up and experiment theyre not that terribly expensive. but i get compliments on how great they sound for just 4 speakers. Im getting 2 type S (maybe 10"?) subs and i forget what kind of amp.. my bf picked it all out and is building me a box, cuz he knows all about... pretty much everything automotive. but im clueless....haha they sound great though and were an easy install. good choice for all around good quality and good pricing.

personally, i know the quality is very good, not the absolute best, but very good. but i wouldn't get alpine. they seemed to have gone the way of bose. they used to be excellent, but then became a big name, and quality dropped off while price stayed very high.

headunit wise, alpines are really costly, when the specs aren't as good as some other companies, w/ better specs.

and some speakers they have are the same. (some are better still though)

i'd consider alpine a mid-high quality all around.

1WhiteOSV - it isn't photoshopped at all. I had Richie (AftermathAlero) make the door pods. How can you say whether it was worth it or not if you've never heard it - it seems you've never heard a properly installed set of high end components, otherwise you'd know that they blow coax speakers out of the water... there isn't even a hint of a comparison. If If you think otherwise, it's time to visit either some IASCA competitions or car audio forums and get your learnin' on.

The doors close fine, and once the interior is finished they'll blend in perfectly.

Cheers,
~vR

Coax's can't even compare to the sound of even a low to mid range priced component set.

This is very true. Components are the TITS! my car is even more powerful then before. i have the Alpine Type X 5.25" components mounted into the stock speaker locations and the crossovers are buried underneath the door molding so you cant even tell the components are there. i just yesterday replaced my Alpine 3526 4 channel with a very sweet Alpine MRV-F345 amp. its a lil less powerful then the F545 but still cranks out a solid amount of power for such a small package. i dont believe Alpine has slipped at all in clarity or quality. my next addition will be Alpine Type R 6x9s and then a huge monoblock and 2 Alpine Type X 12s in a sealed enclosure. prepare for the sickness

As far as the 6x9s, I believe they are long since discontinued, But i have a set of Kickers in the back of my beretta which are ONLY bass drivers. You'd have to piece it all together, but you could make a component system with them.
