I have a kenwood KDC889 cd deck, and in May i plan to put new speakers in the alero. I'm talking about the 4x6's, the 6x9's and also the tweeters...... I want to go with all kenwood speakers and the tweeters because of the compatability. Do you think getting the best kenwood 6x9's and 4x6's and tweeters would sound better other than better aftermarket speakers? I need some help here........

i don't think it matters w/ what speakers you put in, as long as your keep their max wattage over what you Headunit can put out.

for instance...

i have a Pioneer 7600. Puts out up to 50W.
i have 4x6 Infinity Reference speakers in my doors. 50 RMS (100W peak?.. not sure about peak on those)
and soundstream XTS 6x9s in the back. 200W RMS 400W Peak

they don't have to stay the same company.
(RMS is continuous running power. how much you can do, all the time, w/o blowing the speaker. if you didn't know)

i've never really heard anything about kenwood speakers, which leads me to believe they aren't great. soundstreams are good for loudness, infinity for clarity, Pioneer's are ok, but more of a budget speaker.

mine are 2 way. but sound great.

i get mostly mids from the back anyway, since i listen to mostly metal/hard rock music... highs aren't of real importance.

fronts you'll want more clarity... alot of bass right there will drive you nuts. personally, i like loud, but still sounds good.

soundstream and fosgate have good bass.

now that i think of it, one of the members on site is a soundstream dealer.... hmm..

mostly, just google around. check rms, peak power, and SPL %-age. The SPL rating tells you how clear they are. the higher the better.

heres what i do when shopping for speakers (may not be the best idea)

but i go to this site....

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/

and click on a sub-category (tweeters, speakers, etc) and sort them by price. so which ever is the most expensive, i figure those are the best. then i read the reviews and look at the specs. for instance, they have 300 dollar mb quart tweeters. and when you find somethin you want, look it up on ebay for a better deal.

but yea for interior speakers, you definitely wanna focus on the "highs" and leave the bass for the trunk. the "highs" is measured by the freq response. the human ear can only hear up to 20,000hz i think. and look for the sensitivity rating. but if you want bass, get 6x9 enclosures for your rear speakers to help out.

also, www.crutchfield.com is a good place to shop, they give EVERY piece of info you could possibly want.

then see if www.sounddomain.com has them.

then check www.etronics.com for the same ones.

then go back to www.sounddomain.com w/ the price from etronics and abuse their 105% guarantee. (abuse.. err.. i meant take advantage of... )
