I found this setup in the best buy ad and was wondering if it is a good deal. I'm not the greatest with knowledge on sound systems (trying to teach myself). How much sound (how loud) will this system produce?

thats a pretty good deal. i mean the box alone would cost 100, so your figuring 200 for 2 12" alpine subs and amp. that system would be quite loud too

Just out of curiosity, but how far away could someone hear me coming with this. How much power would a system have in order to be heard from a distance? I also have a kenwood KDC-MP5032 cd reciever.

your not gonna be heard from very far away with that setup.

if u wanna be heard a mile away you need a ported box and ATLEAST 1000watts..

i was running 2 audiobahn 10's in a ported box and 3000 watts and i pulled into a local grocery store one day. i knew a kid workin there and he was like........ ya i knew u were here cause i heard your system

Thats kinda what I thought. I'm just tryin to find something that will get me to be heard from some distance, whether it be a short one or far away. The only problem is the whole darn tight budget thing.

i went your route, and was sorry in the future. i ended up making my own boxes and wanting alot more powerful amp. i suggest you buy a higher end model from a higher brand (like soundstream or xtant) and buy 1 or 2 subs of good power handling, and buy a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" MDF wood (at home depot, $20) and build a big ported box (or 2 seperate, like i did) and stick em in ur trunk. u might need an optima or any high CCD batt. if ur battery dies very fast, or if ur headlights are very dim. also buy 4 gauge or 0/1 gauge wiring and a proper fuse. you probably wil also have alot of rattles in your trunk, and some dynamat might help. after monthes of trying to remove rattles, im finding that facing the subs into the cab and sealing it COMPLETELY from the trunk is by FAR the best way to go. i have some leaks right now and i got some rattles but im gonna try to get rid of it all next w/e

Lightbulb

ok lets take a look at this set up. two type s retail 125 each . one alpine amp 400 watts max . means about 200 watts rms or less if its a mono block its ok if its a two channel that suxs.base will be tight but it will bottom out at high levels alpine is great for sound quality but not so good fore booming unless u go x series with the digital amps they have .or u could get a gforce box set ann a 300 watt rms amp and make urself go deaf . :alcoholic: just my two cents .if u live in ct go to jo di"s in west hartford they can help u with a set up that wont kill ur budget .
