Routine maitence will help. Air filter tire pressure etc.. Every little things adds up. Thermastat can make a difference if it doesn't allow engine to come up to proper temperature. Watch for things that add rolling resistance to the vechile, alignment, hubs etc. Around town roll down the windows no a/c, out of town roll up windows use a/c. The calipers could stick a bit causing extra drag. If it's a standard try to get it into the highest gear possible to lower rpm. The biggest varible sits behind the steering wheel. Try coasting up to a red light if you can time so it turns green and you didn't stop, that's more fuel in your tank and not out the pipe. Take off nice and easy.

^ i NEVER use the a/c.... and at time i hardly drive with the windows down.... i started to drive like a f***in grandma cuz of how bad the mileage is getting... the only thing that i have to get checked is the calipers dragging, and also i still need to rotate my tires!

i know thats one thing that's been killing my gas mileage, front passenger caliper was seized on...it was bad enough that it wouldnt roll down hill, and even with a push it'd stop lol
