Grill Mesh Installation Options

I bought some grill mesh at the hardware store. i made 3 different cutouts to fit with some tin snips. all the pieces were pretty much cut accordingly to how they should fit into the three different openings in front of the radiator. now, I really had no difficulty putting in two of the three. Those were the ones over the left and right foglights. But the center piece, even though fitted correctly. I could not figure out a way (without drilling or cutting the bumper) to keep the dang thing in place. How should I go about holding the center grill in place? The other two are held on with simple clips that came with the mesh when i bought it, but if i used the clips on the center piece it would show and look really crappy... any suggestions on how i should go about keeping it in place?

Customcargrills installs them w/ clear silicone. Run a bead along the inside of the bumper, then squish the mesh on and hold it 'till it starts to dry. Then when you want to get rid of it just heat it up a little if won't peel off.

clear silicone is what everybody uses...you can buy a tube for 5 bucks pretty much anywhere

I use 3m moulding/trim tape, and has worked like a charm, never come loose. Just make sure you clean the bumper and the mesh really well with rubbing alcohol.

use the clips on the bottom of the middle piece - fold them under the bumper - stick them with double sided tape - then silcone them for insurance.

I used the clips that came with the gutter mesh at Home Depot. It was a 6" x 3' section with two clips attached. $1.17 each

omg i wouldnt use silicone... i used the two clips that came with the gutter mesh. one on top and one on bottom. fits perfect. i did it to a girls alero too around my house. that way it comes off easily to clean and poop and clip right back on

Do you guys noticed decreased visibility w/ the fog lights when you have this stuff over them?

I actually like the way the fogs looks better after the mesh. And... I think it looks tacky to cut out holes in the mesh for the fogs anyway.

Mine covers up my fog lights and i havent noticed any difference in visibility. I think cutting out for the lights looks cheap...just my opinion though.

To each his own, of course, but I like the smooth look of the mesh NOT being cut out. And there is no noticeble difference in the light output.

It's not like you use the driving lights for anything except looking cool, anyway. B)

I noticed lately that Lexus' have a really nice yellow fog/driving light. (Doesn't look like pickup truck fogs, lol) I'm thinking of experimenting with those cheap yellow 894's they sell on Ebay.

If I do, I'll post pics.

I ordered this not too long ago and today was the first day I had some time to install it, I got the side ones done easily, but the center one is not playing nice. I have no clue how to get it to stay in place, and yes I read the instructions.

Right, but I cant really even get it into position for the silicone to work on it. Can someone take close up pictures of there kits, specifically the sides of the middle one? Mines not even close to being flush.

I cut it a little bit bigger than the hole and bent one end up. then I used my drill and a few drywall screws with washers and drilled into the plastic black shroud behind the bumper. I also used zip ties on the sides for insurance.

i dunno, i think putting chicken wire, ok sorry that was harsh. But putting tacky wire on your car doesn't make it look any better. Maybe if you have a body kit it will eccenuate the kit better, but for stock, i don't like it. just my opinion.

i like redogs fog hole-only meshes. not a big fan of the center mesh.

i'm thinking i'll try it this weekend... i want to find some bare aluminum mesh though, i think it'll look sharp against the silver exterior on mine.

also, i was think the over-fogs mesh looks better than cutouts.

just some thoughts.

Mine isn't a mesh, it's an actuall racing grille here's a close-up
