What do you have the Red power wire connected to? You might have the same dumb problem I did.

you have to connect the red power wire to the yellow wire? if i remember correctly...all aftermarket harnesses and adaptors dont have the power plug in the right spot, i know i spliced my power wire into the A/C power wire (the constant one, not the one that is only on when the DRL's are activated at night)

Yep, exactly ^^^
I wired mine onto a switch. It also works to wire it into an acesseory wire on the ignition harness, or as he said above, to the AC. Whichever setup works best for you.
Except wouldn't the red wire being connected to the yellow slowly drain a little bit of power?

not as long as you dont connect it directly to the battery....which is what i did before cause i wanted to listen to my radio without having to turn the power on, ended up killing the battery quickly cause of the yellow wire (its an illumination wire, so its not totally necessary, but would kinda be hard to see at night!)
