red or yellow top with an upgraded alt will handle the flicker, i used one of the strut mounts behind the carpet as a ground

Good idea, that'll look a lot better than my crappy trunk bolt ground.

I have never even heard of cadence q3000 do they make good amps...Ii would stick with mainstream. Kenwood Exelon, Kicker, Orion.

yeah cadence is good shit!

From what I see your Q3000 is a AB class amp and puts out approx 300watts rms mono. Replacing your battery is a good first step if you are getting sub par reading. this will most likely solve your flicker problem. Any battery will do, but if you plan on building your system up you may want to consider a higher performance battery like an optima.

For ground, you can go the route of the others by using a bolt on your strut tower, but its probably better to sand down some bare metal and screw it in there, this way you can pick just about any spot, which will make your install easier. Either may make sure your touching bare metal.

I suggest atleast 8gag power and ground, but 4 would be better.

I dont think you need a new alt, Im running over 1000watts rms and I have no noticable dimming. All I did was upgrade my batt and Im using 0/1 gage power and 4 gage ground. I also grounded the battery directly to the frame with 0/1 from the negative terminal.

Now, are you sure your amp is fried and not just a fuse issue?
check them out. Or did you see that nice cloud of smoke comming out of her......If its fried you might as well get a new amp unless you can diagnose the problem and its a cheap fix.

Was this amp originally powering the two Jls?

Whats the model of the JLs?

If any of this is helpful great, If you need any more help let us know.

no the amp definitely lit on fire (there were flames) but that was just a voltage regulator and it was originally running all three jls (i think they are w3v2 becuase they have the dual voice coils) oh and now that i have the amp fixed all that happens when i wire it in is the diagnostic light comes on

just found out they are not w3 they are the w6 with dual voice coils and i picked a new rockford amp for $50 but its still way too small to power these so a new amp will be coming as soon as i get the money for it
