A couple problems..

I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero 3.4 V6. 4 Door..

First;

My turn signals work and then they don't.. When they are working, I hear this noise coming from the dash. It's a clicking noise, sounds identical to the turn signals being on. Sometimes It just clicks a couple times, sometimes it just keeps going. What's the problem anyone know?

Second;

When I turn, there's this creeking noise come from the right side of my car. Sounds like it's near the right front wheel. Around that area. Anyone know why?

Thanks,

- Will

1st one might be the hazard light recall causing the problem? If you haven't had it replaced that's the best place to start when turn signals are acting up.

2nd one.. no idea, sorry.

I haven't replaced it personally, but there were previous owners. I bought it with 200,000kms. I was reading in another thread that it's a cheap fix, if that is indeed the problem. Where would I buy it?

the creaking sound when you turn is most likely a worn strut mount. How many miles are on the car? If it's over 75,000 id say thats what it is.

no...not even close dude lol

if you turn sharp and they make a creak/pop sound, those would be your CV joints/shafts going. just had mine replace friday, $475 later

i was getting that exact problem in the wheels, it was getting soo bad that when i was driving streight they were creaking, got them shafts replaced and i dont hear a sound anymore

Yeah, it's whenever I turn a corner. Get's really annoying. But it's only coming from the right side. Is it still probably gonna cost that much or..?

And, should I just take it to any garage or should I take it to GM?

Thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it.

A GM dealer would probably be better, but be careful cause they could screw you over on pricing.

if you have never worked on suspension before, it is not a DIY job. (also, if you don't have air-tools, you can't do much of anything on the suspension anyway.)

Buy a haynes manual. You can do anything you put your mind to (the book) That sound when you turn, is it only creaking like a coffin door opening or is it popping too?

Creaking like a coffin door. There's no popping that I can hear. I generally have my music turned way up so.. lol.

I plan on taking it to GM soon, and I will keep you posted.

Question tho, should I ask GM to fix the creaking problem to. Or should I take it to a garage? Because I bet anything that GM will cost a heck of a lot. And, well, I work at Wal-Mart so I ain't rich. lol

Clicking noise is now gone, I had to replace the multifunction switch thing. I replaced the 4-way button and that didn't fix the problem, so they were looking at it the next day and said that you couldn't clean the contacts in the multifunction switch so you have to replace it. So that's what I did and now my signals are working and I'm click-free.. As for the other problem, I haven't looked into it yet.

.. When I took the car to GM, they said the recall was in 2004 and there was nothing they could do. :|

Just thought I'd keep you guys posted.
