What kind of security system/remote start?
Hi
I'm looking into getting a remote start/security system, and I'm just wondering what others have. I'm looking for something that will replace my OEM remote + give me security and a remote start.
Low price is
American-made quality is really

Just get a 2 way responder from Viper/Directed/Clifford. The best alarm next to low-jack. The extra money is worth it. Look on ebay if you want to save a little but install costs a bit.

-I was also wondering if it might be possible to use the stock remote as part of a remote start/alarm system?

no point.
the two way systems coem with a remote that gives you a display. It tells you which sensor was been tripped. not to mention the old remote will not work with it.

Stock remotes weren't made for that. New ones for other models are but it would be like getting the module that starts the car and then the chip in the stock remote...just a pure waste

Ok, Ill guess I'll look into the Viper/Directed/Clifford systems.
If you really say it's worth the price...
BTW, if all you want is to add remote start, what would you go with?
-I'm not exactly loaded with cash right now...

Well I would still choose one of them. Just lower end. Some alarms offer remote start with a protection plan (they pay deductible if ripped off while alarm on)

DONT GET REMOTE START, its bad for your car. when you start your car you are supposed to let it run for 20 seconds and then drive it lightly until it warms up. remote starts are bad for your car, you shouldnt have your car running for a while.

Well the good thing about remote start is that it is still up to the owner to choose WHEN to start it and HOW LONG he wants it running before it just shuts off.

My question on this is, even if you start your car via a remote start, it is more than likely still going to sit for more than 20 seconds and the way you drive it when it is started has nothing to do with the way you started it. So I don't see how a remote start is bad for your car? Please clarify, cause I just don't get that.

U dont let it warm up for a while cause then when the engine is all heated up, everything else is cold (like the transmission and drivetrain). You are supposed to start it, let it sit for about 20 seconds, then drive away, and take it easy on the car, let everything warm up and then drive it how u want. Its common sense. think about it.

they do make add-on remote start units which you can use a certain pattern of button presses on the original remote to trigger it.

^^ It sure will. Multi-stage sensors make these alarms smart plus the fact that you have the ability to have your windows down and still have infra-red zone protection and multiple AUX channels. Later on you can even add window control thru the remote.

do any of these come with a siren on the inside of the car or do you have to get that separate, cuz my alarm didnt stop the crook from still taking what he wanted but a siren on the inside i'm sure he wont stay too long

Mine did not but a siren is not much more especially if you buy at install time.

Hold on so let me get this right, AGT you start your car while your walking to it?! CAN WE SAY A WASTE OF MONEY....... why did u even bother getting a remote start. If you actually THINK, u need everything in your car to warm up, you cant let it sit for a while to warm up and drive like a rooster head right when u start goin, or your gonna eff up your car.
