Its not a laser detector, its a warner.

Once hit, your done. There is no before detection.

I got a $100 cobra one... Worked good until speaker blew on it.

um, i own one, it saved my ass with laser multiple times! i spent the 500.00 because the 100.00 cobra junk got me ticketed, you get what you pay for. and they all warn you of radars/lasers in the area.

Link me to it.

The benefit of living next to the Cop Shop is getting to know the cops. I was told, with the laser there is no before detection. It a "you got hit" situation. Since the laser is narrow band, not wide band dispersed like the normal radar ranges used...

Maybe hes full of shit, I dunno.

Also the $100 cobra unit didnt cause you to speed, so it didnt earn you a ticket

I like mine as I get to know whos where and the occasional need for excessive speeding...

it will detect radar when hitting another car in the same area and give you a warning that laser is in the area, just like x,k,ka. and yes i was speeding, but if the cheap 100.00 dollar cobra radar/laser detector had done as it was advertised to do it would have picked up the laser hitting cars before me. and given me a warning and i would have slowed down, and why would any cop tell you that a radar laser detector actually works, thats defeating his purpose.

Well when you get to know them fairly decent, you get stories. With stories come information, which you need to filter. Thats how I got what I posted earlier...

http://www.valentine1.com/laserhowto/

U guess its an in between deal.

I know with my Cobra, Ive been hit with laser about 6 times over 3 years. Every time the copper is in plain sight... So I wasnt speeding when hit...lol

buy one and try it, i had a high dollar bel, it was supposedly the best on the market, but it didnt do what it was advertised to do, so i sold it and got my v1, my v1 has done what it is advertased to do, i'm not a salesman, all i'm doing is is stating my experiences, you all purchase what you want, but i have invested about 2 grand in different radars and been dissappionted in all of them except my v1. i talked to alot of people before i purchased it, and alot of them had done the same thing i had been doing testing radars and ended up getting the v1, i go by experience and i'm willing to spend the money on something if its worth it. and like i have stated before i have not been dissappointed yet.

If I was buying one I'd go with the v1. Everyone around here keeps telling me it's the shit.

Just remember a radar detector will only pick up a signal if someone in front of you has been gunned and if they're close by.

radar/laser detection depends on the circumstances in front and around you, but my opinion is v1 is the best early warning system.

alerocar01 is an unknown quantity at this point
the best all around radar detector is the Escort Passport 8500 X50. it's a little better at detecting radar then the valentine 1 and cheaper but as for laser the v1 is better hands down. then again if you get hit by a laser you screwed no matter what. the escort or the v1 would be the best two to look into buying.

the one i am selling has saved me many many many times... but i've heard about those integrated ones that mount thier sensors on the outside of the vehicle and scramble laser while detecting radar... but if you want a decent one for cheap... than buy the one i got.
