Wet Passenger side rear carpet

Ok, so I noticed tonight that when it rains a decent amount our carpet gets wet. It seems to just be the rear passenger side that does it. I havent' been able to get under the car to see if there is a hole there but it doesn't seem likely. Anyone have any ideas where to look for this problem? I wanna fix it before it ruins the carpet and starts to grow mold

Thanks in advance

I checked the weather stripping, looks pretty good. The wettest part is near the hump in the center of the car, almost like something was leaking straight up from underneath. The plastic floor mat that sits on top of the rug isn't wet on top. Really strange

Maybe it is a rust hole or something. IS there alot of salt and nastiness on the road during the winter where you live?

Ya, definetly salt around here. The car only has 35k on it, it's a 99 but I'm wondering if it's a hole. I won't be able to get it jacked up to look for a few more days though. Too busy...haha

I don't know what else it could be, and pretty soon it's going to ruin that carpet and I'll never get the smell out if it molds. Any ideas guys?

It could be the door alignment... After a while the doors do start sagging... I had an issue like that with mine and I just had the dealership bend the door frame back in to place and it worked fine after that

My car got flooded during hurricane katrina when I was living in Houston. I put my car up on a lift and noticed theres a lil hole around the back seat area where water can get in if the water level is high enough. Pretty shitty huh, the car will smell like old water for a good couple months

This is a known issue, I think it may even be a technical bulletin. Basically..if I remember correctly the problem lies within the door. The plastic covering skin w/e you wanna call it isn't sealed like it used to be and instead of water running behind it, it runs over it. Now, if you don't have a four door then my idea is wrong and I have no clue.

For more info do a search for water in Alero or wet carpet in Alero.

I think I may have found where the leak is....Bottom of the passenger door where the two bottom door opening trim pieces meet. I wonder what the cause is though, must be bad weather stripping I guess. Looks fine and is adhered
