Monsoon amp in a 1999 Alero??

I have a 1999 Alero with an aftermarket radio installed using a proper wiring harness. (ie. I can easily put the factory radio back in.) I am wondering if I can use one of those Monsoon amps, such as the one at this ebay link:

Now I understand that this is supposed to mount in the left rear quarter panel of the trunk, but htere is no wiring back there for it in my car. Can I fit this inbetween my wiring harness then? Or is it useless to even try and use this in my car. I'm not looking to go super high tech with my audio system, just thought this would give my system a little boost.

If anyone can help it would be appreciatted

How much work exactly to get it to work in my 99 Alero. I have alot of time on my hands, and don't mind the work. Just curious if it will actually plugg into my Alero.

Wow, good answer. You automatically think I am too stupid to wire things up. Do you know what I do for a living? I am a Fire Control Systems Technician with the Canadian Military. I work with thermal imaging systems, night vision equipement, and the electronics on Tanks and artillery systems. So I do beleive I am highly capable of wiring something up. So a simple "I'm just gonna say no" entails you think I am an idiot. And here I thought this forum was intended to help people out. Would you tell Eh Nigma that what he is doing with his Alero is impossible because it is easier to say ?? I highly doubt it.

I had to cut into a few wires off my amp, when I first hooked up my system, and if you have the patience (which I assume you do) then giver.
here is the wiring from mine (2003), it shouldn't be that different, but just to give you an idea of what your looking at. I think thats only half of the wires too. Good luck

Problem is the monsoon is 6 speaker, the front tweeters and mids are handled as two seperate speakers instead of one speaker with a cross over. So that poses a problem for aftermarket speakers. You could use the monsoon but for the quality of output it has, the wattage it provides, it's cheaper to just get a crappy aftermarket and it'll outperform the monsoon.

i dont give a rats ass what you do, it's a waste. buy an aftermarket 4channel amp, it's better anyways.

and, actually, i didnt want to waste my time explaining something so stupid

So the monsoon isn't a simple plug-in operation, but has to be wired in just like an aftermarket amp? The Monsoon amp I showed the ebay link to had the exact same connction as my radio, so I thought it would just plug in. If not, then I agree an aftermarket amp would be the way to go.

Well, I'm prttty sure it requires a Monsoon compatible stock HU to work (can someone verify this... i've heard mixed things) as just plug and play. If you have that deck then it's just gravy. The way it wires in is there's a connector that goes from the deck into the Monsoon. The monsoon then plugs in to the speakers. That's why everyone says it's not worth the headache to use it.

IMO if you're going to spend any money at all on the Monsoon you're better off putting it in to an aftermarket. My Eclipse deck when it was wired in to the stock speakers was more powerful than the Monsoon.

Okay, I see now. There is only ONE plug on the Monsoon then? From the look of the plug, I thought it went inbetween the radio and the speakers. It appears that is not the truth. I definetly agree it would not be worth the hassle. Thanks for the info.

if your running an aftermarket HU, just put an aftermarket amp in. tou will get alot better gain then that stock amp. and imo it would probable be easier too

The whole interior harness is different for a car with the Monsoon setup. It would be a TON of work to get this to work right. Also, the Monsoon is an 8 speaker setup, not 6.
