Intake problem!
Just put in my CAI, and now my "TRAC OFF" light wont go off, and my "SERVICE ENGINE" light is on. I got the code checked and they said it was for the intake sensor. I got the code cleared but Im sure its going to come back.... Advice anyone???

you mean the little sensor that goes in to the rubber part of the intake?
Yes...its all the way in. But its stretching like all hell...I was trying to free up some slack so it could fit comfortably, but that could be it....

I just bought a resistor from ebay that was advertised as a "chip" ( ive mentiond on another thread) and basically you unplug that sensor and put the resistor in the plug and tape it up. I wasnt sure if I should install it but I decided to give it a try. I installed it this morning and after driving it I could tell an improvement on throttle response and mpg's, I think it might would solve your sensor problem as well cause it basically just changes the info sent from the sensor to the ecm.

first step
go to autozone and buy an IAT sensor, install it on the spot, drive around for a couple of minutes, if the hard shifting doesnt stop then you know to go to the next step.
step two
go to a GM parts dealer and tell them you need an IAT pigtail harness for your alero, cut the wires off the old one and splice the new one in, leaving slack for the sensor (so you dont stretch and break it again)
NOTE: make sure you keep your receipt for the IAT sensor, as you can return it if it does not work, most likely from what you said, you need a new pigtail. i had the same problem, and when i found out the sensor was fine i just returned the new one i had bought, anywayss good luck!

That would have been a solution for you before. But now the odds are that you broke the wires right at the connection for the iat so now if you plug your current end into that extension it still might not work. So if you buy a new pigtail at the dealership and splice it in leaving slack for yourself you should be set.

no, that is just an extension for the IAT sensor but you have probably already ripped one of the wires out of it so you need to replace it

After it's been installed, you can't return it unless it's defective...basic policy at any parts store. If you're gonna just throw parts at it, go with the cheapest ones first (pigtail), then work your way up.
