Car shaking when braking...

Hey guys, on steep downhills by car pullsates...or shakes! Also, my steering wheel shakes pretty bad also. I jacked up the car....and spun the wheels, but there did not seem to be a problem? So, what is causing my car to shake...maybe rotors...or pads?

Help Please

take your car in and get a wheel alignment and get your wheels balanced

Rotors probably. I just got a brand new set and vibrations under braking are gone. Do you have any vibrations at speed??

ya likley rotors are warrped.

hey, i had much the problem that i think your describing. i took the car in and had the rotors refurbished, and problem is completely gone.

I have the same problem, its warped rotors. and a bent steel rim in my case, but its balenced perfect now and still does it so it rotors. check you rims if you've ever spun out with steel rims.
And for the vibration at speed part, i never had any vibration with bent wheels utill the 90+ mark. hard to control under hard braking at that speed with warped rotors and a bent rim though. damn ducks.

Look at them all, notice if one looks different than the other. its most likely one of your front rotors, they do 80% of the braking.

My car does this, but only occasionally, and not always under hard braking. I have fairly new front rotors, the old are getting near needing replacing. How hard is it to warp a rotor from braking at high speeds ? Not jacking a thread i just realized i had the same thing happen.

either rotors are warped, brake pads are done or wore unevenly, or u need ur car aligned and/or wheels balanced

There is a special tool to check for checking runout if you want to be exact (something like this http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/cen6450.html )
You can probably find a much cheaper one cuz it's just some vice grips a snake like cable that can me tightened and a little gauge on the end that you can zero out and as you turn the rotor with the gauge touching it it tells you how far the gauge point is moving in that same spot. But you may as well do both sides at once.

Yeah the stock rotors are terrible. Get brembo replacement rotors (tire rack has them).
