Hard Shift

It does not happen ALL the time but it is getting very annoying since I am now having my Alero as a daily driver. The Upshift from 1rst to 2nd gear tends to be a little hard. There's gotta be something for me to do to get a smoother shift. Any help would be awesome!

you siad it doesn't happen all the time, so its normal. mine also does that sometimes. If it was all the time i'd say have a tech check the codes.

Check to make sure your intake air temperature sensor is seated properly and not covered in any kind of debris.

If not, I would replace it if you're not throwing any codes. I bet it's just not seated properly.

Nope. In some cases, you can leave the IAT sensor hanging in the engine bay and it won't throw a code. I drove mine for a week like that, shifting like I was dumping the clutch out of every gear... Popped the hood, realized I left it hanging from the last time I had my intake out.

...Try to think about whether or not you're being picky though. With my IAT problem, it didn't shift so hard as to throw me out of the seat, but it sure was dropping a lot harder than normal. If you're sure there's a problem, replacing the IAT is an option.
