God i am sick of 3800 threads. For the time and effort it would take to install a stock 3800 boat anchor you could build the snot out of your 3400. Can someone please sticky that fact?

its more of the custom mounts and just trying to figure out the wiring. more time on trying to get the 3800 to fit or more money up front to get a supercharger for the 3400. i say go with the 3800 s/c

but that supercharger is worthless and out of its efficiency range anyway. Beyond 4psi that charger is completely innefficient. Turbo the 3400 and be done with it. Weighs less and makes more power, plus no wiring to figure out.
And yes i did know some olds came with the 3800, that doesnt make it any easier, its a different body car so that offers you no help in the swap. If you can do it more power to you but personally i would out my money into my 3400 and see what it can do before i ditched it.

I see what your saying, if i had money i would turbo my 3400. BUT you cant just slap the turbo on, you also have to modify the internals and if you run higher PSI your going to F*** your tranny up. Yea, either way your going to do a lot of work. But i would say just turbo the 3400 and make sure you do everything right

just cause they run that stock doesnt mean it is doing it efficiently. Billy you dont have to modify internals. Germ is pushing 350+ hp through his almost stock turbo 3400. As long as you keep it in fuel and avoid leaning it out it will run fine. His biggest issue has been blowing out headgaskets from high boost. You are right though, transmissions are an issue.

why dont you just roll in the GTP? I personally find the 3800 to be far more reliable and efficient than the 3400

Bigger isn't always better
3800 Mustangs are Redog's lunch. With just an intake, I kept up with a 3800 Firebird (it was actually just a cone filter)

Have you driven a GM 3800 reg. or supercharged? I have and would have to agree with Candace. I miss my Delta LSS.

^ No. I know I couldn't match one of them, but the reg 3800 can be worked, but so can the 3400.

Dude one of our employees has an 04 Monte SS with the 3.8 (non s/c) And i drove it bc i was looking at buying one.. and lemme tell you.. that is a HUGE car and it hauls ASS. A lightly modified 3.4 is no match for it!!! The 3.8 buicks are the same way. And they are very reliable. Just a good motor.
