question on the correct way to wire my sub
hey i got a hifonics hf12d4 sub http://www.audio-warehouse.com/web/m...2D4/detail.asp and i think im going to be getting this amp http://shop4.outpost.com/product/475...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG . i was just wandering though how i should wire the sub. im planning on bridging the amp too though. The sub is going to be put into one of the q logic 12 inch boxes where you can make it both ported and sealed. thanks in advance for the help.

I cant find any "real" specs on that amplifier, they confuse WRMS with "MAXX WATTS" on a continual basis so hard telling.
Chances are it will power the sub just fine.
You will run each coil to a channel. The amp will not handle a 2 Ohm load bridged.

you wont be able to fully utilize that amp because it makes the most continuous power at 4ohms bridged, and 2 ohms stereo. since your sub is dual 4 ohm, u wont be able to create those loads under those conditions. i'd look for a different amp or sub.
if u wire it to 2ohms, and bridge the amp, you're just gonna blow the fuses on the amp

what does the 2 ohm stereo mean? what if i wired it for 2 ohms, and just hooked it up to one channel because the sub is only 350 rms?

stereo = using the left and right channel of your amp separately. when in stereo, each channel is getting half of the power the amp is putting out. with that amp, you'll be lucky to get 500 watts of continuous power total, so if u use one channel in stereo, it'll be 250 watts or less to your sub.
if you're dead set on using that amp/sub combo, u might as well just wire the voice coils in series to get an 8ohm load, then bridging the amp. you'll still get ~250watts, but that's the best you're gonna get out of that setup.

You need an amp that does 150-175 WRMS x 2 @ 4 Ohms, or 300-350 WRMS x 1 @ 1 Ohm.
Ive got an Eclipse amp on flea bay that will power your sub to full potential. Its an EA4000. If you want it, I will sell it to you for $130 shipped in the 48 states.

This sells for 279.99 at Circuit city:New
Eclipse 4/3/2-Channel Amplifier
Model #: ECE EA4100 (same thing)
Better jump on that deal, the Rock ford is nice but my friend got rid of his. He smoked two of the same series but bigger models. 1st time thought it was user error. 2nd time defective product, and they were new.

2 4 ohm channels...
one coil to front side, one to back side = maximum power!
