Hey all,

I have come up with a couple of questions, answer whichever you please.

#1 - I'm thrilled about adding a carputer to the alero. I would like to totally remove the HU and instead route all sound processing through the computer. Will I lose the chimes forever? and.. is there anything special I should consider besides getting a 3 channel amp and routing the outputs into it?

#2 NE-one know of a good car alarm? before all these mods I'm gonna get one.

Thanks!

Ok... the chimes n stuff have been covered... i beleave its different for the newer alero's... like mine (i have a 03)
I relocated my factory deck to retain RAp etc... but the kit i had came with a speaker that you can wire in that will retain the chimes... if you really care about em... beleave me i dont miss em
there are lots of good alarms out there... but you first need to decide what you want for an alarm... if you just want just a basic alarm there are lots of good ones... clifford, ungo, Alpine (who now dont make em any more) etc...
If you want a more advanced alarm say like a paging alarm... then you may want like a compustar, or such...
I know that my alarm Alpine sec-150r i got for cheep cus they are no longer make'n em... and it works great, locks and unlocks, has a radar sensor, etc.

Hope that helps... pm me if you have any other questions for me specificly

Yeah, I've done extensive research into this. I guess I didnt connect the installation of a carputer with the same thing that happens when you replace your HU with an aftermarket deck..

Thanks for all the info, I'm set and ready to move forward with these mods.
