Alero Stalling in Highway and at stop lights-help

Hi,

I realize there are some threads that talk to this but need some help.

Last week was on the bridge back to Canada from US 99 Alero turned-each time we had to idle. Took it to the shop replaced Fuel Filter and Spark plugs.

A few days later while in the middle of traffic car turned off -no warning hit gas --nothing. Coasted to Neutral restrted. Today again same thing after sitting in bumper to bumper traffice -stalling.

On my way back to the shop in the am but was hoping someone might have some ideas--is this the fuel pump? Can defective passlock impact the car while driving?

Ignition cylinder. The part you put your key in. It tends to fail turning the car off, lol.

Appreciate the suggestion are or should these be big ticket items from a mechanic....?

Well, before my switch behind the ignition switch completely messed up, my car would turn off in occassions. After my switch was fixed, it never happened again. I believe I had started a thread abouth the switch not so long ago.

Is your car hard to start too?

No issues with starting this is an intermittant problem

what motor do you have. I had one with the 3400 with the exact same problem. Got a new egr valve installed and the problem went away. I cost me about 400 bucks but that was at the dealership so you could prolly get it done cheaper some where else.
