e-brake

My e-brake is not working and i just have a few questions. i have disc brakes all around and have done the fronts already but am going to be doing the backs. I have never replaced rear disc breaks and was wondering how the e-brake works with disc brakes? And will i need any extra parts? Thanks.

your rear discs have 8 pads all together, 4 on each side.. 4 of them are "drum brakes" while the others are the disc part that you see-

take your rear wheel off, pop the caliper off, pop the rotor off, and you'll see the "drum brakes" that make up your emergency brake..

last time i did a price check on them, they were about 70 - 80 dollars for 4 pads.

The e-brake can be adjusted when you take the rotor off. I did mines last week, I didnt have e-brake at all for 4 years...So before you spent the money on buying the shoes for the e-brake, take a look and see if they arent worn out, and they probably just need adjustment. The downside might be having to do the job twice, if they arent good, unless you can get them the same day.
