the cvrs are reasonably priced, around here there's a 2 for one sale and they're under 200. i had one and it sounded good with 200watts.
the solobarics are expensive and require a custom box. check out the vids on youtube. too much bass for me.

All depends on how you wire and how many subs. Look for an online ohm calculator for ref.

one sub dual 2 ohm how many options r there for running it. i would be connecting the voice coils together so im assuming i need a monobock amp that runs at 1 ohm stable or maybe 2 ohm stable is ok?

A single dual 2 ohm can be wired into a 1 or 4 ohm load. If you're just doing a single sub though I'd say get a cvx instead of a cvr. I've got a 12" in a kicker box and it hits pretty hard...got it from here:
http://www.6ave.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=KIC06VCVX122
The pic shows the truck box but it's not. $200 shipped for a cvx in the kicker box is pretty good I thought... And it's already wired in a 2 ohm load

If going the kicker route, Id go CVX. I, myself, and not that big a fan of kicker though.

Keeker subs ftl.
There is no way I would own a square sub from them. They have a very faulty build quality and horrible SQ.
If you are using the SOLO-X for its purpose (stacked power for spl) make sure you have the money for recones every few weeks. I remember kicker handing them out like candy at USACI finals last year.

The ONLY benefit the square sub provides is some extra cone area.
The build quality is horrible. The failure rate is high.
speaking on a more extreme level, everyone Ive known to have these subs dont keep them long- ever.
I knew a guy who had 4 12 L7's now hes got a single 18" DC Audio Level 5...
And Ive had a single 8" sub in mycar and people thought I had 12's.
ive had a single 12" $40 wal mart durabrand sub in my car and people thought I had a set of 15's or 4 12's... I bet that baby was 140+...
its all about the box...

"its all about the box..."
And vehicle.
Alot of people dont realize that box and vehicle are the two most important things in an install. Ryan, you are exactly right about the build quality and the advantage of cone area with a square sub. Keeker makes them, MTX makes them, Pyle makes them... and they are all garbage.
Also Ryan, I've played with a few series of the DC Audio subs. Those things are monsters.

Orion FTW
I heard the L7s weren't bad but I figured what has been working for years is fine. I would just make sure it has a great rubber-butyl surround and can bump watts
