Question gps install ideas?

didnt know the best forum section for this but, im trying to figure out if there is anyway to run my gps power cord so its hidden. it goes up from cig lighter up the dash and to the window where the gps unit is and its a eesore its driving me nuts! i remember one time my buddy had a radar detector and somehow he ran the power cord from the side lighter to the front of the dash where it meets the windshield i have no idea how he did that though. anyone have any ideas or tried this before?

welli had a idea to do the same but i was going to mount the gps in the center consol where the cup holer is and fiberglass around it. its not quite the same but the cord will not be seen. i just need money for a gps then i will do it. I had a gps befor and i got rid of it because i could not stand it being on the windsheild or on my dash.

Kinda a pain, but you could pull the dash and run it underneath then reinstall... You could even go as far as installing a second 12V plug under the dash so it wouldn't be seen at all... That should at least be easier than hard wiring it in if you ever wanted to remove the wire.

I ran the power for my satellite radio up under the dash and fished it up through the defrost grill. The piece where the grills are is separate from the dash itself, so you can pop it up to better accommodate getting it up there. then i ran the cig lighter end out where the radio bezel meets the console and right to the cig lighter.

um......you cant mount it where the cup holder is. The GPS has an antenna on it and it needs to be on the windshield so it can pick up the satellites. lol

I made a braket out of the ashtray that comes with our cars for the gps in my old work truck turned out pretty good and it still picked up 5 to 6 satellites at a time.

Mine has it, but my Cig lighter outlet doesn't work.

Who wants to tell me how to fix it? lol.

Check to make sure the wires didn't pull loose or break from behind the cig lighter first... If that isn't it, then either replace with new or junkyard.
