Alternator Pulleys

It appears that they are easy enough to remove and change. (for those who haven't read, Cargodz can get overdrive pulleys for ~$30 shipped)

I'm just wondering if i really need a smaller belt or not.

(Cargodz said no, our tensioner will hold it well enough, but I've read that you do need shorter. I'm just wondering what the general consensus is. Not doubting you man, just getting more opinions)

My pulley is smaller than stock and I have a stock size belt

Impact gun needed to pull off the pulley

thats what cargodz said to. well... 2 with one heavy modifier is good enough for me. (i know if anyone you wouldn't be riding around w/ a loose belt)

i'm pretty sure i have an impact gun that will work. is the bolt reverse threaded?

Ryan from Ohio will become famous soon enough
Well...

Before you change it make a mark noting where the tensioner is.

The add the new pulley replace belt. Make a mark where the tensioner is then.

Also make a mark where the tensioner is when there no belt so you know the maximum travel.

Then make a decision based on how much travel is left and judging from where the stock pulley put ya.

Its probably going to be a no answer though. Belts are sold by the inch I believe. There not an inch difference in the diameter.

CarGodz is on a distinguished road
Nope... It's actually just a few millimeters in diameter smaller, but it's more than enough to make a huge impact on how fast the alternator spins at idle.
The new ones that we produced for Excessive Amperage are now the smallest available on the market and the owner of Excessive put one on his 300 amp alt on his truck as soon as he got them in... Keep in mind that his truck idles at 600rpm (about the lowest a vehicle will idle) and he saw a 17-18% gain in amperage at idle... With no belt replacement
