Required? I have no idea at this point because I don't know what condition your motor is in and what you want to accomplish. Did you blow anything up? Did a bearing fail? How are the cylinder walls? Is this a performance application or stock?

im sorry dude, i have been on the phone with someone, ok, the motor is fine running wise, only that it has a bad LIMG and has been overheated(not by me)
the motor runs fine, no ticking or knocking, but i figured when i went in to to my LIMG and headgaskets that i might as well pull the pistons and rods through the oil pan and replace pistons/rods/bearings/rings.... as well as i am doing my heads, umm so what do you think?

the motor has about 140K on the clock

I wouldn't even consider doing all that without pulling the motor and hot tanking the block. Drop the pain see how bad the oil looks in there before you worry about a rebuild. I wouldn't even pull the heads unless you wanted to mill them, do a valve job and put new seals in. If its to keep it stock, I wouldn't even bother. You can save that money and just buy another low mileage motor to drop in for all that hassle.

Did someone really say Manatapart? Do a BBB search on them or just google for feedback. They are quad 4 based, and their customer service and pricing are bad.

A valve job is what refreshes the seats and valves so you have a good seal when the valves are closed. The main cut is a 45 degree angle for the valve and seat to make contact and seal. Commonly called a 3 angle valve job, a 30 degree is placed on top and a 60 on bottom to smooth the transition for the air and fuel. In performance applications, more angles are added for a specific application. I have done a lot of research on valve seat angles with the 60V6 engines and have a cutter with some radii and other cuts for lower lift cams (below .500) and another that gives less low lift flow in favor of flow past .350" lift and especially .450" and up.

The valves are also ground with a like new surface where the valve makes contact. A backside cut, usually 30 degrees can be added on some valves to improve flow. Again, it takes research to determine the best shape for performance.

For a standard rebuild, the 3 angle is fine.

Varies across the country, and by what you want done. Also varies by the amount of labor involved. 3 angle is somewhere in the $75 range, and you can get close to 200 for something custom that requires a lot of tool changes for different angles.

If you took your car to a local mechanic here in Warsaw Indiana, the machine shop would charge about $200 to clean them, dissasemble, mill the deck surface flat, 5 angle valve job (1 tool) and touch up the valves. installing the valve stem seals is included but not the parts, which are usually supplied by the mechanic or the shop supplies the gasket kit as well that has them.
