Look on your title. Mine says 2927 lbs, thats with a 4 cyl. With a V6 model, you'll be 1-2 hundred lbs more.

What? No it isn't, lol.

What do they say, you gain something like 1 hp per pound you shed off the vehicle? Something like that...

Vehicle curb weight has nothing to do with horsepower.
For every 100lbs you shed from your vehicle, you lose 1/10 of a second in a drag race.

Example. your car + you weighs 3100lbs. You run 13.5. You remove your spare tire and backseats, dropping 100lbs from your vehicle. You then run 13.4, theoretically.

I think that's what I meant. I know I've seen time studies somewhere on that.

If only it worked like that
Nick is more right, but the gains are not constant if you keep removing weight, at one point the wind resistance catches you.

and I wish the back seats were 60 pounds...they are so light, that taking them out would have hardly any effect on the drag strip. (maybe .01 faster, at the most.)

Spare and jack = 50 lbs.
This is going to be the first year I'm NOT dumping the spare/jack or switching the intake to race, at least in the points, I'll still do it for the sport compact days
I dropped the spare and jack in the Delta when it still had the 307 and it went from 20.20 to 19.98
Althought I just found out a few weeks ago that that motor was probably really out of tune because a 98 with a stock 307 motor ran 18.90 and that car weighs about 200 lbs more
