Ok, I installed mt Pioneer DEH-6600 about a month and a half ago, but I was concerned about over-loading the headunit's ohm-load by running the stock tweeter PLUS the aftermarket speakers I installed. I wanna start running wires for my NEW tweeters, and while tinkering around, I plugged in the stockers, and realised how cool it would be to run FOUR tweeters, in addition to my plates up front. So I guess my question is: how many of you have replaced your headunits and 4x6's and kept running the stock tweeters in the stock configuration? ( stock wiring ) No matter what, I'm installing 4 new tweeters( 2 in front, 2 in back ) I just don't wanna frig-up my headunit by running the stockers aswell ....

I'm amping the new tweets, but i was thinking it would be cool to run all 4 up front, instead of just the two new ones.

forgot to ad my crappy home-made sig lmao

oh, and i'm running alpine tweets in the stock housing, on the stock deck with 6.5's in the door.... not that this answers any of your questions. haha.

i was thinking lotek guage pods with 2 tweets on driver side, and 2 on pass side. i hate my eardrums anyway.

Well, I got all 4 of the tweeters set-up, and the wiring pulled, but I don't have my amp installed yet. ( I need to buy a set of RCA's to run back to the tweeter amp )I had the stock tweeters running the whole time listening to the radio at low volume with no problems, but i dunno if I should take the chance with running them permanently. Maybe 3 way 6x9's, plates up front, and 4 tweeters are enough lol.

im running stock door speakers and fosgate tweeters off an amp, no crossover or nothing......i think it puts it at something like 2.8 ohms or in the high 2's......it sounds OK but then again i am a big audio person and know how everything should be, and mine could sound so much better with new speakers all around, your best best is to just get components up front.......run it off an amp, something like 70 or 80 rms to each side......and trust me you wont need those extra set of tweeters.....

You stated that you had a set of components and your stock tweeters. How did you wire these to your head unit. Are you using a monsoon amp or straight off of the radio. You will need to be carefull how you wire the tweeters. If you do it wrong then the impedance will change and your crossover will run at different frequencies. In order to ensure that you do not change the crossover frequencies you should wire the tweeters after the crossover. NOT before getting to the crossover. Another thing. Componants should only be wired in series. If you place them in parallel the frequency will once again change and hurt the speakers. Don't be afraid of the load on the factory deck. All of our factory decks (we make them for toyota, and GM) are 2 ohm stable.

Ok, well seeing as I thought this thread was dead, and, it isn't, I'll give y'all an update.....The fronts and 6x9's are wired into my aftermarket headunit, as are the stock tweeters. ( hence the ohm load change I was worried about on the front 2 channels ) I got all 4 aftermarket tweeters installed and running off an old Sony 4 channel I had laying around.. All totaled up: In front, I got my plates in the doors, stock tweeters, and aftermarket tweeters @ the top of the pillars. In back, my 3 way 6x9's in the stock local, and I put the aftermarket tweets up near the top of the side window trim ( about 3 inches behind the seat belt holder ) Plus my 2 10's in the bandpass...... { calling each tweeter, midrange, and sub as a speaker, I'm up to 18 speakers } lmao !

I suppose that's enough stereo for 1 car..... On with the rest of the car, eh?
