heavy duty harness for headlights?

so i have a new set of bulbs i always wanted to try but never did because they are low beam 80w and as u know our car is 55w. ive seen alot of people in here post they upgraded their harnesses. does that actually work? i have some and they look like they are just a thicker guage wire? is that all it takes to keep the harness from frying? isnt the heast to the entire housing an issue to? until i get my hids id like to try this but wanted to see if anyone has successfully did this without it burning anything?

better of just ditching those bulbs.

you WILL have problems with the housing getting too hot/melting.

yes, thicker wires will help with your harness not melting... but doesn't help the light housing.
