New build 18" DD3518, XXX10000

Im headed downstate to pick up a dd3518e today and im going to be getting some MDF too. I'll be getting pictures up ASAP but here are some of the sub and extra boxes the guy is tossing in too. the big one is almost 3" thick build of pressed and glued baltic birch. he had the sub in a blazer.

Does anyone have any dynamat? i have 5 layers on the trunk lid insert but would like to add 3-4 to the trunk lid and underside of the rear deck itself: also if anyone had 6x9 pods for the underside of the deck that would be awsome too!

don't worry, you won't need dynamat. that thing will just blow the damn trunk right off!

it probably will i wish i had a way to tighten the trunk lid down more. all the expanding foam and having the 15" in there has loosened it up. the dack deck pannel is already built up 3/4" with felt and pain to weigh it down and absorb vibration.

You mean the stock ones, I have a pair, just pay for the shipping. The rubber for the speakers to sit on is trashed but the rubber that sits on the metal is okay and I broke one of the tabs that hold the speakers down off each of the pods to fit some pioneer 6x9s but the screw holes still work.

no i have those, im looking for something like a mini enclosure that goes under the 6X9s i want it to protect them from the 18" upfiring into them. i've seen them made of foam even.

you need to screw it in and it will not move, put 2 screws through the trunk lid into the actual metal behind the lisence plate and it will hold that piece real good and you wont see if because its behind the lisence plate.

The box looks good bro.

What are the specs of the box? Those 3518s are mean and they love port area.

im not sure the guy gave me two my initial plan was to build one but both have greater than 80sq" of port the smaller is <5cubes but im going to give it a shot anyhow. i think i can squeeze it into the trunck if i remove the folding seats and the trunck opening beauty panel. its about 1/4" from going in now.

the box fit with alot of shifting around but i wired the sub at 8ohms so i wouldn't toast the sub but its deff not enough power probably only 1000W. so tommorrow ill have to remove the amp from the box so i can slide it back far enough to pull the sub then shift the box up 3" so i can set the sub up then lay the box flat and shimmy the sub up and out. max box u can fit in the trunk of an alero is 20"x16.8"xas wide as space between the tail lights. i got my 2 kinetik 1800's between the box and back seat its just enough room for the seats to be able to fold up. more to come.

i also tore my headlights open and removed my amber sidemarkers. "aka cleared the corners" but..... i did go buy amber 194 bulbs since its illegal to have anything else here in NYS. the turn signal is a blue bulb, thats a high intensity white. i used alot of heat and a screwdriver to get the headlamps apart, next trial is going to be clearing a set of savlaged tails and trunk lid lights., im planning on culling those with a dremel if there heat welded and just gluing them back together.

So you are using a soundstrem XXX10000D for power?

What is your charging system looking like? I hope you are not just running a cap lol

lol no caps for me there junk, i have 2 kinetik 1800's between the seat and back of the box. i have it wired at 8ohms i figured it'd be enough juice to hold my bass craving over and enough so the sub wont pop, but right now i have things pushed into distortion a bit too much so im going to wire it at 2 ohms, then scope it and turn it down equally or to scale so i can still put more power to it w/o the distortion so the sub will hold up longer. subs rated at 1500 rms and 4800 max im going to put 2000-2400 to it o-scoped clean power. its deff not as loud as my 15 was but it moves some serious air.
