fresh air mode

This is pretty annoying, to the point of finally posting about it

Why does the A/C default to fresh air mode? Is there any way to stop it. I've learned to close the vents when the a/c is off and it's annoying having to press the button every time you want recirculate, which is every time the car is started or the a/c is turned off and back on.

Just wondering.

it doesn't with me, but pretty sure on the defrost settings it doesn't let you recirc. hell, when i turn mine back to vent from defrost it remembers i had it on recirc and chances back to it.

When it's hot and humid fresh air mode makes it harder to cool the air, which is most of the time here in Houston. When it's cold and driving 75+ mph down the freeway causes cold air to come in so I just close the vents. Pushing the button is very much a routine!

On mine it always defaults to fresh air mode no matter what. I think on all cars no matter what defrost is fresh air mode.

If you try to defrost on recirc mode, it fogs the windows up even more, beacause the humidity never leaves the vehicle. You can only defrost in fresh air mode on newer vehicles.

The question now is do all Alero's default to fresh air mode when the a/c is turned off? I know it's probably hopeless for me to change mine, just wondering.

ok, mine, if i swap to defrost, it will go to fresh air, and i cannot change it, if i am on A/C, it will go to Recirc automatically, and i can swap, and if i turn A/C off, it will revert

revert to... fresh air?

And when you turn the a/c on it will automatically go to recirc?
