um....hate to throw a wrench in the program, but certain keywords got my attention:
"cams" as in plural? not in a 3400. Single cam, pushrod setup.
"timing belt"? again, not in a 3400. Timing chain/gears on the 3400.

does it run? as blackjack said, if it runs, not a timing issue, because either the chain breaks, or it's enough, that the car can still compensate
mine has 165K, orig, timing setup, still perfect, chain looks new...

well Nate i will take your word for it ik i still have yet to get it done on mine, i wonder what they would look like with a different colored painted bezel???????

Yup, pop em in the oven at like 200 for 10 minutes, take them out and pry with a screwdriver or something.. easy!
How about ya give us a little FYI about what exactly it's doing? Running rough or something?

200 degrees. i would have to pull the bulbs out and all the wiring right? including the plug on the back side of the housing correct?????

honestly, unless you go black or smoke, don't paint them on a silver car. Dark colors can get away with matching, or going to a color-scheme matching metallic, but white and light colors just look bad.

I don't have it running yet battery is dead have it on a charger right now. But the guy I bought it off of said it sounded like a lawn mower and wouldn't really move. Yes I meant cam just a typo and for the chain I couldn't remember if it was a belt or chain but now that that's clear where to start |

Lawnmower eh? LOL, so basically it sounded like a Honda with a fartpipe?? Around here that means maaad performance dawggg :laugh:
At 200* you DONT have to remove the wiring... just pull the bulbs out and take off the rubber drain tubes. I baked my Buick headlights at 200* with a rubber trim strip on them, and it was uneffected... 200* isn't too much, so it'll only gently heat the goo that holds them together.

If you don't like the bake idea you can use a heat gun or even hairdryer and warm spots up and slowly pry it apart that way. That the way I did it, it's very simple then for the chrome piece I warmed it up and used a utility knife and cut the5 (I think it's 5) connectors. Pull the amber piece off clean all the gunk use a clear silicone and bam clear corners are done |
