Best MPG
Ok, so on Feb 9, 2010, I purchased a fully loaded 2004 Alero, I was wondering what I can do to get the best MPG possible in this car because I deliver Pizza for a Job, and to make a car payment I need to cut on fuel costs...Any ideas?
This is the motor fresh off the lot.....

take things slow. dont pin it off the line. basically drive like a granny.
i run full synthetic oil. and you can also get a wai that supposed to help. have you tires inflated properly. my tires max out at 45psi, but i normally run them at 44 or so.
clean air filter. new plugs/wires if need be.
the basics

Thanx for the tips, I have never raced my cars, I like to keep them going in a healthy fashion, and by the way, can you explain the WAI Situation? Also, can you point me in the direction to some cheap and easy engine dress-up kits please? Im new to the Alero scene, but im liking it....the first thing I thought when I seen her, was i gotta drive it, and I fell in love from there, so i plan on treating her like my woman, just better.

Enable DFCO in the tune and adjust it properly.
j/k you won't be doing that anytime soon but that's the way to signficantly bump up MPG. Deceleration fuel cut off, shuts off injectors when you let off the gas instead of still targeting a 14.6:1 AFR.

max means maximum tire can safely withstand. you should always inflate 5-8 psi less to account for heat increasing the pressure

then there is something majorly wrong with your car because my friend who had a 2.4 grand am ran it to 155,000 on the original spark plugs with gear lube as oil and it had no overdrive and it still got 23 mpg with him driving it like a nascar.

I think I have shitty/dirty injectors. I'm running some injector cleaner on this tank (and probably the next one, too) just to try to get back to normal. it doesn't seem to be a bad spark, but my exhaust does smell like gas.
*could also be the fact that it's cold as a witch's tit here and I only drive it really short distances.

winter gas doesn't help mileage, my car gets on average about 5mpg less in the winter time on the highway.
and here is a wai.

it's even a decent price

up here winter gas has different additives in it. stop it from freezing at such.

could be the winter gas too. when I calculated my 1 tank mileage in the summer, I was at about 21 mpg. but that was less than 3k miles ago. So I could just be due for a total system clean out (oil and air filters, injectors and spark plugs cleaned/replaced...anything else?)
