Adjusting KYB AGX
Hi guys,
I got the shocks installed the other day with the help of a friend. I'm very happy with them so far except the adjustments are confusing. The front adjustments are easy to figure out as they are done with the screw driver.
The rear has a removable cap with 1-4 numbers on it and a little dot on the pin in the center of the strut. You are supposed to turn the cap so that the dot is lined up with the number. What happened during the installation was that one of the center pins came off (and they come off and go back very easily) and I put it back in...but now I can't figure out which way the white dot would have been for adjustment... anyone has ran into the same confusion? Can you figure out the adjustment relative to the direction that the strut is sitting at? For those who have the dots correctly is your left rear facing the rear of the car and the right rear facing the front of the car?

on mine there is a notch in the top of the shaft and a white line is set in that notch, i rotate my cap to match the number with the white line and notch.

Well mine was like that until the notch came off and I had to put it back in there ... now I'm not sure which was should the white line on the notch be facing. As of right now the white line is facing the front on the LR side and facing the rear on the RR side. Which way are yours facing?

Hmmm both facing the left side... that's interesting because I'm sure for my LR the white dot was facing the front from the beginning. From the way that notch could come out easily and then be put back in in any direction, something tells me those adjustments don't do much... I mean unless the centre shaft turns on itself, all our indication dots should be facing the same way.

the only piece that should turn is the top piece that dial sits on.

if that's true... we should all have the white dot pointing the same way (except mine which came off and was put back in)... Let see if anyone else can comment on which way is theirs facing.

the agx shaft can spin when the strut is being installed into the mounting plate, direction doesnt matter, the center plunger is nothing but a valve adjuster. i've been running these for a long time without issue.

But that still doesn't solve my problem.... the ring that the white dot is on came off and can be put back in any direction... I realize this ring probably doesn't do much but without it pointing in the right direction it will be useless.
Looking at the picture above and the other side of my own I can tell that the white dot will be facing the narrower side of that center shaft but there are two sides.
My only option seems to be setting the known side to 1 and figuring out what the other side is set at by pushing down on each side of the car... or I'm being really dumb and missing something.
Thanks for the pics btw
