need some help deciding on tire size
I have a set of 19s that I had on my grand prix that i'm planning to mount on my alero. Can i get a suggestion as to what would be best? Rims are either 19 X 8.5 and i'm not sure on the offset... I tried the search but came up empty handed. I'm just looking for the tallest tire I can fit without modifications. I'm not concerned with speedo calibrations either. I appreciate an responses...

Why aren't you concerned with whether the overall diameter remains the same? There's a lot of stuff that uses the VSS input, and if it's off, your car's driveability will change if you don't change the VSS pulses per mile in the tune. (Transmission shift points etc.)

Those will fit on the hubs. Offset is probably correct. Overall width may be too much, check clearance at the spring seat on the strut. Overall diameter is very important, don't go big just to fill the fender! Staying near stock diameter will limit the issues you will have to deal with..... IMHO 19" is too much for these cars.

Plus size correctly.
Most likely 225/35/19

I don't drive the car all that hard, ive got 170k on the clock. I'm wondering if 235/35/19 would fit without issues...

Look I got 19x8.5 with 34 offset and I got 255/30ZR19... everything fits good and I got about 3in drop with the coilover setup... You only have to roll or cut the rear side of the fender a little bit and need 8mm rear spacer.... But I Must say that you NEED 34 offset to do this because 19x8,5 is wide.. reeally wide... if it's under 34 offset... you'll scrape on the strut assembly, if it's over 34 maybe the wheels will stick out too much...
AND 235/35R19 is a good size but it's smaller than 8,5 in, but if you like the stretched looks of the tires, it's up to you

OK first, i'm interested in the work you did with the L67. I have my L67 that I had at 380hp to the wheels and about 420-440 at the crank. I was thinking of doing the swap and I would like to talk to you more off site about that.
Second, how would a 245 tire fare?
I need to measure my offset, but I did test fit the rim with no tire on it and it is about 1/4" from the strut and about flush or just a bit behind the fender.
I'll post the offset as soon as I measure...

reverse that, if it's over 34 like a 40 it will scrape on the strut assembly, and if its under 34 like a 30 the wheels will stick out too much......
i have 17x8 with a 32 offset and am also running 255s.....

those are way too big, you should be looking at more like a 245/30/19

Okay, 245/35/19 tires, 19 X 8.5 rims and a +35mm offset work with absolutely no issues whatsoever!
