Window Tinting
There is a guy at my military school that says he'll cut me a deal on a lifetime warranty tint job. Normally goes for $220 but he'll give it to me for $150. So that begs the question: is it a good deal? Not sure what window tinting normally runs but I know if a good job isn't done it can look really crappy.
Second, my rear defroster hasn't worked in a long time. Not sure what the problem is and it probably will always be too much trouble or money to get fixed. If it happens to be the broken heat grill on the window would the tint have to be completely removed to replace it?
Lastly, Anyone know the tint laws for Texas? And if I am registered in Ohio should I have the tint job tailored to that state's laws?
Thanks ahead for any input.

Usually 150-190 average as far as I can tell, so if his are high quality jobs it's a good price.
There's a resistor or something in the passenger side C panel that fries out.
Texas:
Front sides, rear sides, rear window.
25% 25% ANY%

around here a good tint job is around $120. and the non working defroster is most likely what ion said. just remove the pillar cover and you should see if the module is burnt out. mine had a big black smoke mark on the pillar and the module was all melted.

Got the 35% tint. Looks sharp. Lifetime warranty as well. Any how-to's for pillar removal?

Abuse the search button!
I wrote a nice How-to about 3 years ago and somebody just Thread Jesus'ed it a few weeks ago.
Tint jobs around here are about $150. It seems that your guy is giving you a "deal" by saying he regularly charges $220 but for you, $150
I wrote another artical on "tint laws by state" so again, abuse the seach button
If your car has Ohio plates, you CANNOT be stopped for tint in any other state. Tint laws in NJ are really bad. You CNNOT have ANY tint on the driver's or pass side windows AT ALL!! You can ask my ex-wife this too. One time I passed a township cop on a coutry road. He flipped his lights on and spun around to chase me, only to see I had PA plates. The lights went off and he turned around. COP FAIL!!

i wish that Iowa cops would do that but my grandparents from texas have black windows and everytime they are up here they get stopped and told that their windows are illegal. so like every year the cop gets told they are headed back to TX and not living here. wouldn't you think a TX plate would prove that they aren't from here

Yea that sounds like a good deal to me. The local pro tint shops in my area are anywhere from 200-350 for a all 5 windows. The one in town here (Tintmaters Inc. go figure lol) quoted me about $350 when i asked for my ho. But that was top of the line 3M film and their "diamond warranty" which means no matter what happens they will replace for free. Even if you go out and take a blade to it.
