2.4L timing chain replacement

Exactly how hard would this job be?

I had to have my water pump replaced when I was out of town a while back, and the mechanics didn't bother to tell me I needed a new tensioner/chain until afterward, so my car has been knocking/rattling for a while. Dealer wanted $1200 to fix. So, I'm gonna try to do the replacement in my driveway!

Is all I need in the following kit?

All you really need is the tensioner and chain. It's not a hard job, it's just annoying. You'll need a piece of wood so you can jack up the engine to take off the flat piece on the engine mount so you can get the timing cover out of the vehicle and out of the way.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN the 2 small bolts that hold the tensioner in.

They probably did something wrong if the noise started after they did the job. Document it as you disassemble. Lots of pictures. Maybe they didn't release the tensioner...

Give yourself time to do it, don't rush the job

I've never done a chain on a 2.4, but I have done chains on Old School Olds motors. Yes it's different, but still a PIA. I read the link and it doesn't look that bad to me. If I were to do it. I'd give myself probably about a 2-3 days or so
