Led Installation For Interior

I'm having trouble hooking up my LED's i bought from www.oznium.com, I'm hooking the resister to the + line, and to the + side of the LED, and the shorter lead of the LEd to the - ground in my overhead light for the rear seat, and it blew the fuse for the interior lights. Could anyone who installed LED's anyplace in their car please upload a picture of the wiring job u did? Many thanks in advance!

simple solution

wire em in series of 4

the leds from oznium are 3v each so 3v x 4 = 12v

Still going to need the resistor. I have made over 3500 LED lights in the past 3 months. If there is anything I know it's how to wire a car up to glow.

Did you cover the exposed wires that are connecting to the LED light?

Odds are you have crossed one of the wires and its blowing your fuse. Here is a picture of the LED lights I make. I also make bars. No matter how many I use I always have at least one resistor hooked up to the LED lights. If you would like more help one on one PM me.

you don't still need the resistor if you are wiring them in series and what color you have from oznium makes a big deal in v's ....i believe the blue are 4v so you need 3 in a series you could also wire the series in parallel if you are really putting in a lot of lights.....

exactly, with series wiring it replaces the resistor to create a 12v line. Trust me Ive had some experience with lighting and wiring before. The blue are 3v, and I tryed the 3 wired in series and it was a no go

hmmmm....oznium says they are 4v a piece....

Sure you can do it but your LEDs are going to burn out faster. Want long lasting pay the 1 cent for for the resistor.

glowbot is right. 12v does not equal 13.3v or more. no resistor would be fine if you only ran them with the car off running off the battery. they'll work and everything at 13.3 but their life span will just be shorter.

the leds have a tolerance........aslong as you stay within that you are ok......you can hook 4 up in series and it will work fine.....i dont know how long you have them on in your car but hooked up in series under "normal" use will probably outlast your car.....

Tested this 6 months ago. 5 LEDs in a row no resistor. Center LED blew 2 weeks after normal use the rest followed after. When I took it out 2 months ago only one was working. The LED lights I have are a higher quality then that found on that site you guys are getting them from. Really use a resistor spend the cent and they well outlast the car by 10 years or more. Your wiring well go bad before the LED light goes bad.

I know about the wiring of the LED's , but i'm curious how you get them in places like the rear view mirror lights, and the dome light + the 2 back lights. What i was planning on doing is put a resistor and 2 LED's to replace each light, because i don't think 4 LED's will fit in that tight place. Also how would i get them to stay in? Am i making any sense? lol. Basically what i'm trying to figure out is the exact place you have to put them and wire them up to work with the factory switches.

5 leds in series should not have blown.........i gurantee you are not going to blow them with that set up.....the reason you need the resistors is for the voltage drop across it.......with 4 or even 5 leds you definately dont need the voltage drop......you must have had them go bad for some reason, but i gurantee you it wasnt because of overpowering.......

and another thing, if you had the leds in series i believe if one led were to blow then none would work because you dont have a complete circuit.......now i am not sure about that, i cant remember if when it blows it just acts like a wire and connects the 2 before and after.........

if you blew 1 and the others stayed on, that puts me to think you had it in parallel and would explain why they went out.....not 100% sure though so dont hold me 2 it......

K, got the rear map lights replaced with LED's thanks to my neighbor and you guys. Thanks again.
