i found door panel tweeters and need them installed

so i went to the pick n pull for some fog lights and found some decent door panel tweeters that look pretty good. i don't have any because my car is stock so i was wondering how i can install them. i popped the panel off the door and i can't find any wire that would connect to these tweeters. what to do now?

RE. tweets

Hey i think i can help but first did you get the whole plastic setup or just the tweeter? its simple to install however you will need to run some wire to the head unit. do you have an aftermarket deck?

Yeah I have the tweeters and the panels but they are basic tweeters not aftermarket. And yeah I have an aftermarket radio. No subs and no amp tho. No yet anyways. So where do I run the wire?

that sounds good but i have a lil problem. these tweeter panels were plug and play. how do i work around that? do i cut the plugs off and solder together with regular speaker wire then splice into the door speakers?

you should have pulled the door panel and clipped the other end of the harness down by the speakers then the could be spiced in, it is essentially the factory setup, you could prolly get away with running separate wires, but there is a resistor that I am not sure of the importance of on the harness

the clip from the wire harness of the tweeter is literally 1 inch from the speaker itself. so i know i cant clip it down by the speakers.

Will a 4" aftermarket speaker fit on the front doors instead of 4x6 and a 6.5" aftermarket fit in the rear deck instead of 6x9? And will I need an amp?

Unhappy Tweeters!

I'd say that if wire length is the problem then just run new wire and just solder them together, and I may be wrong as it's been proven a time or 2 but i think the resistor is kind of like a bass blocker so the tweeters don't blow out from too much bass. My tweeters already had that on them so I just left them. I went through absolute hell bypassing the MONSOON Amplifier and Stereo. The ONLY reason I removed the Factory system was because the rear speakers were sun rotted and blown and i couldn't find any aftermarket direct replacements due to the 4 wire plugins on each back speaker.. UGH!!

what are your opinions on doing a full sound system without subs... like if im trying to get the best bass possible without having to buy subs, what would be the best speakers to get.??. i dont mind getting an amp for a good quality set of speakers if i need it, i just dont need/want a box bumping so hard in the trunk..

There's many ways to get bass without the infamous trunk rattle...I would suggest you get 300watt RMS 10 inch subs. The box will be small, and 10's are weak sauce compared to 12's.

My plan is to get something nice inside the cab rather than getting anything inside my trunk because I dont have the space. So I was just wondering what can I put in the door panels and rear deck that can still bump nicely. And like I said I would get an amp if I had to.. Idk if my aftermarket hu can pump out the amount needed for just say component speakers.. Remember I just have stock speakers and aftermarket radio. Which is nice but not enough bass.

Rear Deck: 693.9i Infinity Kappa 6x9s - 110W RMS Each = 220 RMS Total

Doors: Infinity Kappa 62.9i - 75W RMS Each = 150 RMS Total

Total Speaker RMS - 370

For an amp: I would recommend a Fosgate p400-4 or t400-4 maybe a JL JX360/4 - $129 at Onlinecarstereo.com (I just bought one of these and haven't hooked it up yet so I can't say how good it is).

For a amp I'd suggest Precision Power PPI S580.4. It's what I have running my 6.5s and 6x9s Alpine Type-Rs. It compliments them well.

Ahem. What is THERE, is a CAPACITOR.

Its function is to block the higher powered bass frequencies from the tweeter to keep it from being damaged by the power required to pump the air to make the "ThumpaTHUMP!" so much of .. err, today's music (corrected what I WAS going to type! ) seems to have.

Yes, it's a bit necessary, unless they're piezos. Which the ones I've seen in the yards haven't been.

So you have 6.5's in the front? Did you have to mod anything on the panel to make it fit?

no, all i did was drill a piece of wood about 1inch larger diameter than the speaker itself and made my own mount with zipties and woodscrews

I basically did the same as Truth. 3/4" MDF mount with the speaker plate was just enough to clear the window bracket. It is however, very hard to get my door panel on completely.

youll find better sound quality out of the 6.5s and a wider marketplace as well. better choice imo.
