so i've been hearing a definite squeeking noise comming from my driver side front tire for some time, and its gotten progressively worse, so i decide (since i'm still under warrenty) that i'll take it to the olds dealer. they say i need new rotors and my pads are shot, but only rotors are covered under the warrenty. k, fine, no problems. now they call me and say since i bought it used from the dealer down the street, that i need to go to them to have it serivced (and i already know how much crap their gonna give me to get it all worked out, they are infamous for it)

but hell, maybe i'll have them check the fuel pump while their at it.... if i'm not gonna have my car for a while, they better fix every possible problem, not just a few select ones.

which brings me to my next thought. i do need new pads, no biggie there... i'll just get some aftermarket ones, even though they really try to get you to buy the GM dealer ones. what are some decent pads, that aren't really expensive? i'm usually doing some highway/city driving... no racing or anything.

Agree...ceramic is the only way to go...semi-metallic(carbon-metallic) will eat your rotors

well, that was quick. next question is would it be worth it to have gm replace my rotors under warrenty and get more "dealer" rotors, or should i buy some myself and put them on?

and if so, what are the best for their price ones?

slotted and crossdrilled are a little much for me....

GM's rotors suck bad, so it might be worth it to invest in some better aftermarket rotors. I got the power slot rotors from pfyc.com and they have been great for me. Worth a little extra money.
