Not the first thing I would check, but I was online with Haynes at my garage and there is a regulator box(I can't remember the proper name) in I believe the right rear pillar. This unit controls the rear defroster and has the antenae wiring going through it as well. I believe your stereo reception would not be up to par if their is in fact an issue with it, but with so much power going through it, my tech has replaced a half a dozen of them in the past year 'cause they melt. Really stupid design! Something else to check out.

^Yeah. It's on the passenger side C pillar. Antenna booster and defroster are in the same little module. The part at the dealer is $103.

Thanks. I couldn't quite remember what side as I read the info last winter and haven't had to replace one yet.

Yeah, I didn't buy it either. We went to the parts counter and asked and said "Ok, thanks, bye."

My rear defroster stopped working but the radio is fine. Not sure how to check the rely under the hood to see if that is what went bad. Any ideas?

Look in your owner's manual to find out which relay it is. Then get a friend to help you out. Have them push the button on and off, and listen to see if you can hear the relay clicking on.
Mine stopped working last winter, and I just had to wiggle the plugs at that module in the C pillar. Make sure the grid is plugged in on the back window, too.

Ah ha. I pulled the relay out of the box under the hood and plugged it back in. Do you have to take the trim piece off of the rear pillar to access the part you are talking aobut? Thanks.

Yup, if you made sure the grid was plugged in still. I don't remember what all you have to take off to get to it. It's a lot of carefull pulling. Just have a look at it and start pulling off the plastic that seems to be in your way.

Anybody else having the rear defroster not working problem? How do you pull the plastic cover off of the rear pillar without breaking it? I guess that's all that's left to check since everything else seems to be OK. Thanks.

I've had it happen, but my car was under warranty so I just took it to GM told them it was busted and when I went back a few hours later it was working again. Almost like magic or something.
