I was curious on what all the letters after the Alero mean. I have a GLS and im not sure, I've always thought it stood for Grand Luxary Sedan. But I am not sure. If anyone have info, please share. Thanks

Its GLS, GL, GX as far as I knew, not Ls(Lincoln) Lx(Honda).
Not sure what the terms mean, I think it is just model codes.

For some reason I thought that GLS stood for Grand Luxury Sport. I dont know if that is exactly correct though. And I thought GL was just Grand Luxury. I was never sure what GX was though.

I didn't think they stood for anything, I just thought they were to signify different option packages.......

Model Lineup
Oldsmobile Alero is available as two-door coupe and four-door sedan. Each is available in three trim levels, GX, GL, and GLS. Prices for sedans and coupes are the nearly the same. Sedan prices: GX ($17,210); GL ($18,620); GLS ($21,965).
A 150-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard on GX and GL. A 170-horsepower 3.4-liter V6 is optional on the GL ($655) and standard on the top-of-the-line GLS.
New for 2001 is a 5-speed manual transmission, standard on the base-model GX and available on GL trim. GLS comes standard with an automatic transmission, which is also available on the other models.
All Aleros come with four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, traction control, a four-wheel independent suspension, and hydraulic engine mounts. Our GLS sedan test car came with the performance suspension package, which includes a sports suspension, high-performance tires, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Yep, I think Natureboy is right that they don't stand for anything just a designation for different trim levels ie: GX - Base, GL - Better Equipped, GLS - top of the line.

Well ya I knew that the GLS was the top of the line and GX was the base model but I thought that they actually stood for something.

I have GLS and i prefer no spoiler for 2 reasons...not that functional and not good looking IMO on 4 door models.

I finally figured out that I have a GL. It's fully loaded, but has the 4-banger, minus the spoiler+sunroof.
