im hoping to do this this weekend.

ive got a rather large amp, 12x20,

2 crossover's (for the front components)

fuse block

Line Out Convertor

i want to mount this stuff somwhere somewhat hidden, but accessable, im considering mounting it right to the bigger of the two folding down seats, anyone do this? and then putting the sub box in front of it.

ive also got a mtx 5500 12" sub, in a ported box, not sure on the dimensions, but i know your not supposed to mount amps to sub box's

LOL and why aren't u suppose to mount ur amps to the boxes?

So long as u don't accually put large enough screws into the sub box it really makes no difference i just like to have my amp on my box so it's easier for someone to steal LOL

no accually i just didn't wanna put screws into the back of my seats in my car.

I was looking at that and if i go back to more then one amp which i likely won't unless i put some interior strobing lights in again I will likely put the amp there.

Check your fuses dude. I had a similar issue this weekend and naturally the first thing I did was give the fuses a visual inspection. Cause when I've blown fuses before, they've blown big time and had a huge gaping hole in the middle and were charred. But this one appeared fine, but after hooking it up to my voltmeter, there was no resistance at all, so I found out it was blown.

Now I got 800watts going to each sub again. :o

because your box will vibrate quite a bit for than your car, and the vibration is bad for the amps. my brother fried 2 concept 2400's this way, all of his amp distributors say not to do it, concept, massive, kenwood, soundstream, phoenix gold....they all say it shortens the life of the amp. it can also vibrate enough to change the crossover settings, but were talking big setups....it does make it harder to steal though

more so if its sealed than ported, but his concepts were on a ported box

anyone have any pics? im trying to get some ideas together...hoping to do it saturday.

thanks

That is a good point about it shaking them.

Ah my amps like 5 years old now
but again it all depends on the amps to i guess and how they were built if they are built strong they shouldent have any problems handling the vibrations.

My friend blew up a concept amp a few years back did absolutely nothing bad to it it was just a POS. So ya i dunno if mounting it to the box is to blame for blowing up that concept amp it could be but it could also be the quality/how that amp was made that it wasn't designed to handle vibrations (pretty stupid when u consider they are designed to power sub't that create vibrations) I'd like to talk to the engineer that designed that one.

NEVER upgrade the fuse that comes with the amp. Lets say you have a 40amp fuse in your amp, it blows, you put in a 60 amp fuse. You aren't helpign yourself anymore. Because if something comes along at say, 50 amps....the fuse isn't going to blow, the amp is going to take all the extra power. Which isn't good.

Heres my setup.

I have a 0/1 Gauge wire running back from my battery to my distrubution block. I have a 200amp ANL fuse on that line.

Now, my distrubution block is a 4 way that has spots for fuses for each amp. My sub amps each take 2 30amp fuses in them. So for the cable on the distrubution block that supplies power to them, I have a 60amp AGU fuse. My 4 channel amp has 2 20amp fuses in it, so yep, a 40amp AGU fuse in the distrubution block for that sucker.

I probalby should see if I could find a 160amp ANL fuse for my main line, seeing as that 200amp fuse isn't helping me at all.

ya, screw concept, they're junk. but they had some powerhouse amps for good prices, but the quality sucked....concept in general sucks in my opinion

i think in general its bad for them, but especially cheaply made stuff like you said.
