OK i've been having a problem lately with my battery. It first happened about 2 weeks ago...and was pretty much all of a sudden. one day its fine...the next day i come out of work and the battery is dead....like i left the lights on..which i didnt. so i get a jump. i take it home and look at everything...unplug unnecessary items like neons and radar detector, anything that might drain it, and the next day i get up and try to start it....its dead again. again i get a jump. i come home that night, unplug the battery this time for the night. try to start it the next morning and it starts right up. ok its not the battery. then from that very moment on - until today - it was fine. i figured ok whatever it was must have corrected itself when i unplugged the battery right? wrong. same thing started happening today. i tried to start it to go to work and it was completely dead. i made sure that anything i might have left on was turned off or disconnected. anyone ever have this happen to them? or have any idea what could be draining the battery?

What year is your car and have you ever put a new battery in? Could just be a bad battery.

my battery's about 2 years old. and i'm almost positive its not the battery cuz like i said before...i disconnected the battery overnight and it worked fine in the morning...which means it'll hold a charge fine. i think something is draining it but i dont know what.

might as well get a free battery/alt test at advanced auto or something, but it sounds exactly like my mystery problem.

fellow buffalo dude, it might be the salt from the streets. Salt does some funky stuff to electronics, especially when it's wet. Check the connections. B)

Could be a short. Check everything aftermarket that you've put on your car and check the ground and power to make sure everything is secured. Other than that, I have no clue what the issue could be.

I have also had this problem, as recently as this week. I have nothing aftermarket on my car and the battery is six months old. Battery and alternator were tested good. I live in the deep South, so salt is not a problem; however, water in the skies is often too common. Good luck finding the problem.

ok i might have found the problem. the fan knob on the the left. everytime i would get out of my car i would just leave the heat on and turn off the car and walk away. last night i turned the heat completely off before i turned off the car. went out today and it started right up....probably sat for 10 hours or so. anyone else having the same problem give this a try.
