I installed an aftermarket pioneer cd player a couple of months ago and it was working fine until recently the car is dead in the morning. I had to recharge the battery every day so i took it to the dealership and they said it was still drawing power off of the battery even though it was shut off. The only way I listen to it now is that i have to take the fuse out of the fuse box every time im done with it. They told me it was the wiring to the cd player but i thought that was the problem it would have done it along time ago... Any suggestions ?

have you replaced anything in it that could have made it do that? /shrug you've got me stumped lol, I have a pioneer headunit as well, never heard of that problem before, did you do the wiring or was it a professional job?

I had my friend do it. He used to be a mechanic and he knows alot about audio stuff. The only thing i didnt have for the cd player was the radio adapter, but i dont listen to the radio much so it didnt bother me. I was really stumped too because i figured if the cd player was draining the battery that it would have died along time ago instead of waiting until 2 months.

 Did you make sure the blue (usually) wire for the remote was hooked up to a remote wire from a harness adapter or to a radio fuse in the panel? that sounds like your prob bob

what are you talking about?? the only wires you need to hook up for the cd player to power up is red (12+), yellow(ignition), black (ground), (considering you dont have the monsoon system or whatever it is with the amp in the trunk, thats a whole different ball game and more is involved), the blue wire is for the antenna booster to be able to receive radio stations better, it not being hooked up will not cause the cd player to drain the battery.......plus i dont think it stays on once the car is turned off so thats irrelevant.......it may be a wiring problem, maybe a bad crimp somewhere.....all in all maybe your cd player is messed up and something inside isnt being shut off once the ignition is turned off.....
first id take a look back there at all the connections.......aslong as you and your mechanics are sure its cd player, if you dont see any obvious shorts or any problems, maybe just recrimp the 3 wires in the back that i told you..........if that doesnt do it......do you have an aftermarket amp? check the connections on that..........

I was just saying that the remote wire not hooked up correctly can be a problem with power drain. In my Pioneer headunits it was blue. Dont get angry guy.

not getting angry lol but you said not hooked up, and in any case, that wire in general will not cause the battery to drain when the car is off, once the cars off that should turn off......im not getting mad, im just letting you know what you said aint true.........and i have a pioneer as well.....i had the blue wire unhooked for a while, never drained my battery or any problems like that.......
so its from experience that thats not his problem........so like i said in my other post, check those things first.........

haha cool trying to get a reaction out of Big D... but yeah true if it is not hooked up it would not but what about if the remote was to something that kept power even when car is off?

chill out guys... bigd i think you misunderstood "remote wire" as in a remote control... i think that AGT is referring to the remote turn on wire or what you called... the ignition wire...

lol i call it the ignition wire cause thats what it is........the remote turn on wire is for the amps which are two totally different things.......im just trying to explain to him so that he understands better along with silver_alero.......it wont be the it wont be the ignition wire, or the remote wire, just because those are only turned on when the car is in the on position(when unit it working properly).......it could have something to with the constant wire, something inside the cd player........
